HOWARD MCGOWAN, Superintendent GREETINGS The twenty-ninth edition of the Roller is now in your hands. Those who are responsible for its publication herewith present a graphic description of personalities and activities which prove that old M.H.S. continues the pattern of educational service and intellectual and physical accomplishments, long ago established in this institution of learning. The moving finger writes and having writ moves on. The present soon becomes the past, and the future soon moves into the position of the present. But as time flows on quietly and relentlessly, interested eyes may repeatedly scan these pages and momentarily turn back the pages of time and recapture and re-live the rich and happy moments previously ex- perienced in these halls of training. Across the fields of memory we may travel into the land of yesteryear. and though we may not go back, we may thinl: back. It is with this idea in mind that we dedicate this Annual to all who have shared with us the enjoyable use of our beautiful well-kept buildings, the rich associ- PAGE ation of our varied and talented faculty, and the efficient and energetic Administration and Board. We are deeply grateful to the generous business men in McDonald and in nearby communities for the ads which we have secured from them and which we in- clude in this edition. Without the financial assistance thus assured, this publication of the Roller would have been next to impossible. Our theme is based on the seasonal sequence. We have striven to place our school classes and activities in such order that they will depict a progression rela- tive to your school life, We wish to express our appreciation to Mr. Kukuk, the advisor and editor, to Mr. Moran for his artistic contributions, Miss Fenton and her art students, and to the competent staff of eleventh and twelfth grade stu- dents who gave willingly of their time and talent to make this 1954 Roller a definite success. 3
