STANDING - Mr Anestis. Future Teachers of America The F.T.A. is composed of juniors and seniors who desire to make teaching their pro- fession. The purpose of the club is to give pro- spective teachers an idea of what school teach- ing involves and also to give them some prac- tical experience by observing classes and doing some student teaching. The members of the club render a definite service by substituting for teachers. The club began its year with a spaghetti dinner, prepared and served by the officers. The guest of honor, Miss Kirk, gave the members practical information on colleges. Several members attended a meeting on special education at Hempfield Area Senior High, Greensburg, and also the Washington County meeting of all F.T.A. members at California State Teachers' College. Along with observing classes in other schools, the members visited one of the special schools for underprivileged children in Pitts- burgh, took part in the play, The Other Side of the Desk, along with the Engineers Club, and met jointly with the F.T.A. from Midway and Hickory. The oflicers for this year were: Ruth Ann Daniels, president: Mary Beth I-lampson, vice president: Helen Marie Fini, secretary: Eliza- beth Siry, treasurer: and Ellen Bednar, historian.
