It is composed of all the boys who take part in M. H. S. sports, and its purpose is to maintain Me- Donald's reputation for good sportsmanship tllltl friendliness. Each year the l.cttermen's Club pur- chases jackets for the lcttermcn of football and basketball. The club also chooses a foot- ball queen who is crowned at the Football Dance, an outstanding event of the year. Don- na Galloway, head cliecrleader, was queen this year. Managers Contribute to Managers play an important pa1't in the athletic program of any high school. M clion- ald was especially fortunate this year ill hav- ing a hard-working group of boys who were at least partly responsible for the successful season i11 football by seeing that all the play- ers were properly equipped and fitted. The managers are usually boys who are in the early junior high or boys who do not wish to take part in the sports program. They are chosen by the coaches and the boy with tl1e most experience is the nheadv man- ager. The athletes have developed thc habit of making the managers the object of practical jokes or taking everything out on them when something goes wrong. Many a manager has gone home soaking wet from being thrown into the showers, clothes a11d all. The man- The l'.cttermcn's t'lnb also has tl1e privi- lege of selecting the outstanding athlete of the year. This has been done since the club's organization in 1948. This year Paul Chitf was chosen as tl1e Athlete of the Year. Oflieers elected for 1955 were: Robert Klimas, president, William Dempe, vice president, John lVilliamson, secretary-treas- nrer. The ofiicers are assisted in their duties by tl1e head coach, Mr. Tornabene, and assist- ant coaches, Mr. Blockowicz and Mr. llepe. Success of Athletic Teams agers are a cheerful and sportsmanlike group of boys and take things like unexpected show- ers in their stride. Many important duties are tl1e responsi- bility of the managers. They must check the equipment, keep it neat and in order, keep the sports statistics, li11e the field for home games, have the first-aid kit ready on short 11otiee, tape the athletes' ankles and wrists, and have water within the reach of thirsty players. Two senior boys, Arthur Aurand and Raymond Meutc, had tl1e special responsibil- ity of keeping sco1'e and Plllllllllg the clock at basketball games. The managers of 1955 have ll01lC a fine and connnendable job. The students of M. H. S. should know and appreciate the managers and give them the credit they deserve.
