Writing concisely and accu- rately, taking pictures and laying out pages are some of the most im- portant things the staffs are required to learn. In addition to these skills, it takes long hours of work to produce quality publications. FHA members had an infor- mative year as they listened to two speakers talk about their experiences as a Parsons policeman and a peace corps volunteer. They also viewed a David Williamson film on the sub- ject of people today. It was entitled Meditations on Today. Some of their other activi- ties included donating gifts at Christmastime for soldiers in Vietnam and attending the district and state meetings in the fall and spring. Police officer Wiley L. One of the most important was the State Contest at Manhattan. The boys entered several of the divisions which included live- stock judging, soil conservation, carpentry and concrete, and machinery. Some of the boys also made trips to the Hutchinson Fair in September and to the Western Farm show at Kansas City in February. Their biggest money-making project was the annual Box supper put on in conjunction with the FHA girls. FFA takes part in several pro- jects during the year which help to further individual initiative. At the youth fair in September the members enter their own crops and livestock for judging. Later in the year the boys enter the Rodent Pest contest. In which they receive points according to the number of pests they bring in. The mem- bers with the most points re- ceive jackets. In addition to all these projects, the members also have a number of special projects. New football goal posts, live- stock feeders, and overhauling farm machinery were three of the projects. The Eagles regular season finale saw Oswego on the losing end as the Eagles defeated the Indians 47-39. TOURNAMENT SEES UPSET The class 1-A District Tournament was played on the Eagle's home court. The opening round saw the last seeded. Eagles upset the fourth seeded Chetopa Hornets by a score of 56-45.
