We had the following twenty-one students our Freshmen year: Robert Alvord, Cathy Boor, Gary Baldwin, Peggy Getman, Tom Barton, Carolyn Huff, Glenda Lagers, Ronnie Burk, Connie McCaslin, Richard Shouse, Judy Michael, David Billington, David McGuire, Phil Comer, Sheila McColm, Larry Montee, Mavis Markley, Mike Nutt, Richard Nunn, Rosemary Ulbrich, and Jim Mishler. We chose as class officers Robert Alvord, President: Ronnie Burk, vice-president; and Carolyn Huff, Sec- Treas. Judy Michael was crowned FFA Queen and Tom Barton was attendant. Rosemary Ulbrich was Fall Festival attendant and Carolyn Huff was EAGLE Queen. Carl Druart was sponsor. When we returned for our sophomore year, we were sorry to find we had lost Glenda Lagers, but happy to gain Wynonia Ware and Al Thomas. We chose as officers Al Thomas, president; Robert Alvord, vice-president; Rosemary Ulbrich, Sec.-Treas. Carolyn Huff was Fall Festival Queen and FFA Queen. Carolyn was also elected cheerleader and Mrs. Almeda Closs was class sponsor. Connie McCaslin was EAGLE Queen. Junior class officers were Ronnie Burk, president; vice-president, Robert Alvord; secretary, Carolyn Huff; and treasurer Cathy Boor. Judy Michael was Fall Festival attendant and Sheila McColm was EAGLE attendant. Jerry Cox and Alice Balcombe sponsored our activities this year which included the play, Home Sweet Homicide and the Junior-Senior Prom, The Old South. The play cast included Rosemary Ulbrich, Carolyn Huff, Robert Al- vord, Sheila McColm, Phil Comer, Connie McCaslin, Larry Montee, Richard Nunn, Richard Shouse, Judy Michael, Cathy Boor, Gary Baldwin, Tom Barton, David Billington, Peggy Getman, Wynonia Ware and Mavis Markley. Connie McCaslin was basketball queen and cheerleaders this year were Carolyn Huff and Judy Michael. At last in the fall of 1966 we reached our goal with the title of dignified Seniors. We were happy to gain Delores Thompson and Linda Himebaugh, but sorry to lose Richard Nunn and Jim Mishler. We chose Robert Alvord to serve as president again. Mike Nutt was vice-president; Carolyn Huff was secre- tary and Cathy Boor served as treasurer. Connie McCaslin was Fall Festival Attendant; Carolyn Huff was Basket- ball queen; Judy Michael was EAGLE attendant. Carolyn and Judy were again cheerleaders. Sheila McColm was Miss Merry Christmas attendant and Kenneth Schulz was senior sponsor. Thirteen Seniors attended school 12 years in the McCune schools. They include Judy Michael, Carolyn Huff, Sheila McColm, Connie McCaslin, Rosemary Ulbrich, Cathy Boor, Mavis Markley, Larry Montee, Phil Comer, Mike Nutt, Gary Baldwin and Tom Barton. The Junior-Senior Play, The Ghoul Friend was directed by Mary Lou Willis and the following seniors were in the cast: Judy, Sheila, Carolyn, Rosemary, Larry, Robert, David Billington, Cathy and Tom. We chose to go to Kirkwood Lodge for our Senior Trip. We left the school early in the morning on April 24 and returned on the 27th. We chose for our class motto Today we follow; tomorrow we lead. Our class flower is a pink rose and pink and silver are class colors. As we are about to receive our diplomas of graduation we wish to express our appreciation to the faculty and to everyone who has helped us reach our goal. We hope our parents, the faculty, the board of education and our friends will be proud of our achievements both now and in the future. 87 Sheila McColm CLASS PROPHECY This is a momentous occasion. We are looking into the future and seeing the 20th annual reunion of the class of '67. The reunion is being held at Al's Rolando Inn. This inn is just one of the many of A1 Thomas’ plush inns scattered throughout the United States. I hear a strange noise? It's the squeal and squall of tires and the sound of toned exhaust pipes. That must be David Fireball Billington. He's won wide acclaim for his dare-devil race car driving. With him is his head mechanic, Richard Shouse, who also is his co-driver. What kind of car is he driving? Oh, yes, I see now. It's die new Montee Mark XII, turbine-powered sports car which was designed by Larry Montee. His cars are the car in sports' car circles. Oh! Look! There's Robert Alvord who is the head of electronics at NASA and he is being interviewed by the famous reporter Linda Himebaugh of the McCUNE TIMES. And here come the Rev. David McGuire who will present die invocation tonight. David has just returned from a world wide crusage, where his fiery evangelism has earned him the title of David Billy Graham McGuire. Here is Sheila McColm whose name has been appear- ing as hairdresser on all the late, late movie films. Mavis Markley is now one of die world's richest women and is head of diree large corporations currently undergoing monopoly investigations. Delores Thompson serves as Mavis' financial advisor. Wynonia Ware and Peggy Getman received world recognition as the first two ladies to go to Mars. Connie McCaslin is a star in her own right—she's just won her fifdi Oscar. What ever happened to die girl who was going to be a farmer's wife? Rosemary Ulbrich replaced Hedda Hopper in die film world. From her pen flows die gossip of Hollywood. Rosemary has been a great help to Connie, Rosemary has been her publicity agent for years. The hard-working farmer Ronnie Burk has now come into his own. He farms 25 square miles and hired Gary Baldwin as foreman. Slave Driver Baldwin gained valuable experience running the athletic department at Phil Hefner Comer, editor of PLAYBOY magazine is well-known by the college set for his editorials on society and various aspects of it. Judy Michael, The Dodge Girl, was asked to pose for die cover of PLAYBOY, but Judith declined. She felt posing for the magazine would damage her image as assistant to the Montee Cor- poration. Her main job is furnishing Larry with ball-points. Carolyn Huff has received a Nobel prize for a new type of atomic fuel. Catherine Boor replaced Betty Furness as consumer consultant for die president. The crowd gathered outside appeared because of the new teen-age idol, Mike Nutt whose blond locks and soothing voice sends the younger generation. Me—Tom Barton, I own Valley View Stables and one of thoroughbreds just won die Kentucky Derby. I hear die sounds of music and it must be time to start the evening's entertainment. Must go. So long. CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of 1967, of the city of McCune, the county of Crawford, and the State of Kansas, being of legally sound mind and lawful age, whereas we are about to de- part as students from the McCune High School, do hereby give, bequeath, and make public to our under-classmen some of our most valued possessions. Collectively, To the faculty we leave our appreciation and sincere thanks for the help they have given us; To the Juniors, we leave the front row seats in the auditorium and the tile of Seniors; To the Sophomores, we will our ability to work and to keep on smiling; To the Freshmen, we give our ambition to climb successfully to the rank of Seniors; Individually we will the following: Gary Baldwin wills his job as Athletic Manager to Allen Grandle provided he learns the art of giving rubdowns; Mavis Markley leaves her hard desk in Spanish to Joe Sears; David McGuire wills his ability to be at school on Mondays and Fridays to Kenny Nutt; Linda Himebaugh wills her horse-riding ability to Ella Barton; Wynonia Ware wills her nickname Y in Speech Class to Sheila Nutt; Mike Nutt wills his dream of writing a book, The Art of Studying, to Tim Davidson; Carolyn Huff wills her many embarrasing moments to Martha Lyth; Robert Alvord wills his brains, good looks and devestating charm to Rog Parsons and Glenn Allen because it will take two to follow in his footsteps; Ronnie Burk wills his migraine headaches, caused by overwork and worry about academic achievement, to Wayne Wells; Delores Thompson relinquishes her position as mother hen to the Senior Class to anyone who can cackle enough; Larry Montee wills his intense study habits in World Geography to Gayle Best; Cathy Boor has so many talents she can't decide who is the most deserving person to dump them on. She would also like to give all her trials and tribulations to anyone who is doomed to becoming a martyr; Phil Comer wills his ability to find nice girls to anyone who desires a change; Judy Michael wills her ability to sleep through the entire Senior Trip to Kathy McColm; A1 Thomas leaves his perfect attendance in drafting (?) to anyone who believes they can match his record; Peggy Getman leaves her job in the Lunch Room to Donna Brown providing she can locate an apron; Richard Shouse wills his ability to change truck tires to Larry White (Larry, your room is reserved in the Hospital); Sheila McColm wills nothing to no one because she wants to keep everything that she has; Tom Barton wills his artistic ability to Don Rehmert; Connie McCaslin wills her old-fashioned sewing methods to Nicky Dauron providing she has courage and stamina to endure the consequences of never-ending lectures on mod- ern sewing methods; David Billington wills his ability to be the only boy in the class to meet a girl on the Sr. Trip to George Willard; And I, Rosemary Ulbrich, will my ambition to be ambitious to Joyce Stephens. Thus, we the Seniors of 1967, have disposed of some of our personalities, possessions and honors to our under classmen, and do herby set our seal on this 22nd day of May, 1967. 89 1966 Graduates Carl Brunnenn Robert Smith Richard Wylie Susan Nunn Sheryl Wright Marjory Collier Elsie Hansen Gerald Kemick Sharon Mi shier Carol McElwain Kathy Niebaum Maxine Niebaum Lavera Seibert Pat Stephens Dorothy Parker Larry Stewart Pasty Stewart Edwin Thomson Kenny Wright 1965 Jay Stewart Janie Turkington Earl McColm Judy Harrell.
