The staff has won awards from the Co- lumbia Scholastic Press Association, ln- terscholastic League Press Conference, the University interscholastic League and state universities. However, Editor-ln- Chief Bruce Machart said the newspa- per's pride and joy is the Golden Quill Award, which ranks the publication sec- sf 41 . . .. .s- .rnfsgiifg t M 4 -L '- r Sn Jennifer Flynn and Kristin Bumgardner are proud of the Caledonian's accomplishments. Other publications have moved up to first and then fallen. We hope to be number one this year. Students control all aspects of the Caledonian's production: finance, adver- tising, design, interviewing, writing, edit- ing, typesetting and paste-up. For a first-year staff mem- ber, the word deadline had frightful im- plications. Some members of the staff wondered whether or not to take the word literally.
