The staff has won awards from the Co- lumbia Scholastic Press Association, ln- terscholastic League Press Conference, the University interscholastic League and state universities. Other publications have moved up to first and then fallen. We hope to be number one this year. Students control all aspects of the Caledonian's production: finance, adver- tising, design, interviewing, writing, edit- ing, typesetting and paste-up. We learn to look beyond the im- mediate issue, to explore options and to present information in a professional manner. We learn skills that will help us throughout our lives. For a first-year staff mem- ber, the word deadline had frightful im- plications. Some members of the staff wondered whether or not to take the word literally.
