3 2 the future reativity from design to com- pletion helped industrial arts T students stay on the edge of technologically-based educa- tion. According to Jerry Bernhardt, sponsor, there are three major objectives for the Industrial Arts Club: The first is to have fun learning about the many industrial fields of today. The second is to promote industrial technology. This is accom- plished by the many classes offered in Visual Communications, in Manufacturing Technology, and in Constructional Tech- nology. The final objective is to promote school - community relations. The mem- bers have applied the technology they have learned to design, build, and main- tain the Spirit Helmet. They have de- signed the Spirit Chain and sold links to raise money for scholarships. The lndu trial Arts Club also participates in a Chris mas party, a workshop for junior hig students, Regional and State Compe tions, and the Odyessey of the Minc Competition. As president Don Gutierre said, Industrial Arts has broadened rr horizons in education by experiencir new things each year. The McCullough Spirit helmet revs up at a football game. The at band performed excellent half-time shows, highlighted by creative formations and a colorful array of flags. Many changes were made in the band this year. Tommy Tuggie was hired as assistant band director and the auxiliaries received new equipment and uniforms, which added color to the performances. Twelve squad leaders helped teach the band by example. Most of our success this year was due to the excellent example set by the squad leaders, said Director Ed Schutz. The band performed at football games, marched in parades, and competed at the Marching Bands of America contest and at the U.l.L. marching contest. l'll never forget the fun times I had in the band, said Kris Thompson, senior.
