bumpin to the top hrough the heat of the summer to the cool of the fall, volleyballs were bouncing constantly in the girl's gym. With the season beginning in early Au- gust, it was non-stop practice and hard work for the eleven girls on the team. Coach Sharon McCIanahan emphasized conditioning, skill development, and new defensive and offensive strategies. l not only learned to develop team play, pa- tience, and sportsmanship, but most im- portantly self confidence in myself, said Tiffanie Hicks. The team was led by Caryn Case, who had an outstanding season according to McClanahan. She, along with Heather MacTavish, as captains of the team, pro- vided the leadership and motivation, which pushed the team toward a suc- cessful season. Asa result of Case's ex- cellent play, she was selected for first team all district. Heather MacTavish and Melissa McClain were chosen for second team all district. With determination, hard work, and the will to win, the volleyball team spiked their way to victory completing their district season with a 9-5 record.
