Graduation from High School could very easily be the beginning of the most important phase of your life. Ralph Waldo Emerson, writing of another disturbed period of history, when America's freedoms were being threatened said, This time like all times is a very good one if we but know what to do with it. The problem of what to do with your lives is one which has suddenly become very real and important. The autumn of 1957, the beginning of your senior year, was normal with the schools of America but then came the intercontinental ballistic missile and the first earth satellite. And now what? One thing is certain. The world will never be the same again. Whatever your vocational choice might be, you will share in the wor1d's most critical period.-How to get along together.-This is indeed a challenge to all young people entering upon the threshold of active citizenship. My sincere hope is that each of you will be able to meet it successfully.
