And we think while swift the moments pass, How delightful has been our friendship’s boon. We have felt the thrill of autumn days And shared the winter’s cold as well; When we know we now must say good-bye, All our sorrow no language e’er can tell. We have seen together how the spring Made miracles of tree and flower. But the joy that summer brought to us, Led us on t'ward this pensive parting hour. Chorus:— Farewell to thee, farewell to thee, Our golden days are coming to an end; But we will hope for brighter days to come, When friend shall meet with friend. The first class meeting saw the fol- lowing officers elected: Richard Mellott, president; Richard Garlock, vice president; Nancy Johnston, secretary; Edna Gordon, treasurer. We sold greeting cards and had a food sale to furnish funds for our treasury. One of the social events of the year was a hay ride to Cowans Gap. Our class sponsor was Mr. Wible. In the fall of ’49, we became sophomores. We elected June Fleming, presi- dent; Robert Clevenger, vice president; Nancy Johnston and Edna Gordon, again, as secretary and treasurer. The seniors celebrated our promotion to the second class by initiation ceremonies. We entered the social whirl by having a Soph Hop, also a hay ride. Our treasury was so well filled by our fund-raising campaign that we omitted the collection of class dues. In our junior year, our leaders were Sheila Lammie, president; Nancy John- ston, vice president; Helen Cline, secretary; Edna Gordon, treasurer. Our social ac- tivities began with a Thanksgiving Dance. We also chanced off turkeys to help meet expenses for our Junior-Senior Banquet. This event, followed by the Junior-Senior Prom, was the climax of our third year. In September, 1951, we reached the coveted goal of seniors. We re-elected Sheila Lammie as president, chose Harold Knepper as vice president, and again named Helen Cline and Edna Gordon to be secretary and treasurer. After initiation of the sophomores came a hay ride, a Christmas party and a square dance. During the first semester, the annual play was our major project. Now that the publication of FLASH LITES is assured, the class of ’52 looks forward to a delightful trip to New York and our Commencement program. We give and bequeath to the faculty members an unbroken succession of restful nights and peaceful dreams. It has been a hard strain on them, for seniors are said to be at all times and under all conditions difficult to manage. They have done their duty, and now shall have their well-earned reward. We leave our good sense of humor and our ability to get ahead to the junior class—use it to the best of advantage. To the sophomores, we leave all of our unused money-making ideas. May they prosper and see California in 1954. And last, but not least, we leave to the freshmen our excessive overflow of energy which will be needed for the remainder of their school life. Good luck! The following may seem like trifling bequests, but we hope they may be acceptec as a reminder of our generosity. To Nancy Mentzer, Genevieve Kling’s quiet disposition. To Janice Secrist. Sheila Lammie bequeaths her blooming personality and small features. We trust this will become you! To Helen Souders, Wilma Snyder’s smile. To George Miller, Dan McQuade bequeaths anything but his ambition. To the sophomore girls, all of Mary Pittman’s phone calls and dates. To Forrest Mellott, Harold Knepper leaves his ability to study 16 hours per day. To Viola Kuykendall, Emma McQuade's basketball suit. To Marie Seiders, Kass Cornelius bequeaths her skill as a nurse. To Nancy Humbert, Frances Hunter leaves her job as class clown. To some unlucky freshman, Helen Cline’s troubles as class secretary. To next year’s dressmaking class, Billie Lininger hands over her scissors. To whomever needs it, Nancy Johnston’s physics notebook. To Foster Schooley, Morrow Kendall leaves his executive ability. To John Gordon and Martha Culler, Bob Clevenger and Dixie Ray leave their place in study hall. To Janet Rhodes, Betty Morton bequeaths her driving ability. To Gene Headley, Roger Elvey’s gift of gab. To the faculty, Dick Mellott bequeaths his good nature. To Alma Bivens. Erma Gress leaves her bashfulness. To the undergraduate needing it most, Albin Chubb’s supply of language. To the new school treasurer, one slightly used canvas bag that once carried Edna Gordon’s gold as collector of class dues. To Jack Glazier, the secret of Harry Branehe’s methods of playing basketball. To the student body, June Fleming’s knowledge of history, art, science, and the universe. To all who need them, Marian Kuhn bequeaths her super-abundance of credits. Finally, we do name and appoint as the sole executor of this, our last will and testament, our principal. Mr. C. O. Fries. IN WITNESS WTIEREOF, we of the Class of 1952 have set our hand and seal this twenty-ninth day of May, A. D., 1952. r -y—r-nGr r«M iXT Pflrro«z ixiTiyi TyTAM yATyr-rT FLASH «■ LITES im—Dg«M pg pqzzpcncBuxraxz zxi w : 1 J Prophecies As Seen From The Crow’s Nest Dan McQuade kissed all the babes; Won the election; got to be Mayor of our little city.
