SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Seniors, at last we've made it, and do you remember as we started our high school careers four years ago in 1952? Now, suddenly, it's all over forever, and we find ourselves looking back on those four years that are so filled with precious memories of our high school days. We started our freshman year feeling a little timid and unsure of ourselves, but as we became ac- customedto newsubjects and new schedules we gradually acquired self-confidence. Upon inspection we found 43 members in our class. We elected class officers which were as follows, Ervin Zeltner, presidentg Bob Stoepfel, vice-presidentg Jeanette Augsburger, secretary-treasurer, Betty Finley. re- porterg and Duane Lambert, historian. We didn't receive any new members during the year, but we were sorry to lose Wilma McMaster who moved to Findlay. Our class advisor for the year was Mr. Clair Jones and our home room teacher was Mrs. Welly. We felt with the departure of that year we had made a very good beginning for our high school careers. Ourhistory beganto grow as we became sophies. Although we hadn't changed much we thought we were 10070 smarter and quite a bit older and more mature. Of course, we soon found out differ- ently. At the beginning of the year our class was composed of 38 members, however later on Jack Harden moved to Bloomville andBonnie Tate was forced to quit because of illness. To guide us that year we chose as our class officers: Ervin Zeltner, president, Bob Stoepfel, vice-president, Carol Sue Fundum,secretary-treasurer, Dick Pickens, reporterg and Sandra Wagner, historian. Mr. William Detamore was our class advisor. Our biggest moment was when we selected and voted for our class rings. Also, we decided upon ourclass colors of blue and white, our class flower, the American Beauty Rose, and our motto Cooperation Means Success. We were allvery proud of Carol Sue Fundum who was elected a cheerleader. Our half- way mark began with 38 juniors flashing around new class rings. We were glad to wel- come backlack Harden and Bonnie Tate. To lead usthrough the year we elected Ervin Zeltner, pres- identg Carol Sue Fundum. vice-presidentglulia Nigh,secretary-treasurerg Carolyn Orwick, reporterg and Sandra Wagner, historian. We had a wonderful time presenting our play, Love is in the Air, under the able direction of our class advisor, Miss Eleanor Painter, and we feel it was a real credit to the class of '56. We were proud of Carol Sue Fundum and Julia Nigh who were chosen as cheer- leaders. We worked very hard on our class projects of selling Christmas cards and catsup and mustard holders. We also had charge of the concession stand at basketball games, and we saved tax stamps. On May 14,we entertainedthe seniors with a banquet the theme of which was Down Memory Lane. Serving were 12 sophomores who were dressed as little children. We were proud to serve as Honor Guards for the Class of 1955 at their Commencement. And then, almost before we could catch our breath, our senior year began. To conduct us through our last year we chose Ervin Zeltner, as our president: Sandra Wagner, vice-presidentg Carol Sue Fundum, secretary-treasurerg Carolyn Orwick, reporterg and Julia Nigh, historian. There were 38 members in our c lass , however, we soon welcomed Sharon Osborn from Liberty which brought our number up to 39. Our class advisor was Miss Eleanor Painter, and our home room teacher was Mr. William Detamore. We were proud of Carol Sue Fundum, Julia Nigh, and Shirley Smithwhowere selected as cheerleaders and also of our beautiful queen, Carolyn Orwick, who reigned so well at our homecoming game. In April, we presented our class play which we feel was a great success. May 12, found us as honored guests of the juniors at the Jr.-Sr. Banquet. Next came Baccalaureate and Commencement on May 13. Then we were off to Washington where we all thoroughly enjoyed our- selves. As we left good ol' MHS, we felt that we had well fulfilled our expectations, and that we owed it to our school to put in practice in the future the knowledge and principles we had learned there in the past four years. Compliments of HANCOCK HYBRIDS INC., Findlay, Ohio 20

Mrs. Ensign was our class advisor. We were sorry to lose Janice Monett and Otha Sudlow, but we were glad to gain lla Rose Lindemyer from Bowling Green, Shirley Miller from Liberty-Benton, Florence Sterling from Van Buren, and Tom Palmerton from Hoytville. On November 4, we presented our class play, Grandad Steps Out, which was very successful. Paula Foltz was elected one of the cheerleaders. We are proud of the many boys who participated in sports. For money making projects, we sold Christmas cards, saved tax stamps, bake sales, and refreshments at basketball games. Throughout the year, we enjoyed two class parties, andahigh school Christmas dance. In May, we entertained the Seniors with the Annual Junior-Senior Banquet. 22 is
