SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY The year 1976. It was a balmy day in springg the birds were singing, the bees were buzzing and in the South Todd Street Rest Home sat Miss Eleanor Painter,a retired chemist, physicist, and school teacher, viewing her favorite television show, Ed Sullivan's Toast of the Town. As the master ofceremonies strolled to the center of the stage, she was amazed to see a new MC. None otherthan Jack Jacobs, stillhandsome, in spite of his receding hair line. Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,I am very happy to be here in place of our dear, beloved Ed Sullivan who retired last week. Ihave a very spectacular show lined up for you this afternoon. Here is the designing engineer, Jim Stoepfel, to tell you about Washburn's Wacky Wishy Washers. This is the only washer of its kind that washes, sudses, starches, rinses, dries, irons, and mends. The clothes come out sparkling clean and ready to wear. Now on with the show! Our first surprise this afternoon is from the famous Judy Nigh Dance Studio, the FOUR RHYTHM- ETTES consisting of Susan Joesph, Margie Otto, Lucille Davis and Lois Sterling --- Thank you, girls. Now, next on our show, we have Clever Bill Clevenger and his one-man band, --- making more music than two ordinary bands. Now,let ushave our ace camera man, Ervin Zeltner, turn his camera out to the audience and in- troduce our honore d guests. As I look out on the audience, I see Five-star General Jack Harden. Seated beside him are Lois Ann Snavely, Florence Myers, and Sharon Osborn, our three most promi- nent heads of the Woman's National Guard. In the fourth row is the world famous basketball team, the SHAWTOWN SPACETROTTERS. The center is Duane Lambert, the two forwards are Bob Snively and Gail Newcomer, the two guards are Dick Pickens and Terry Gary. They will be playing next at the Gene Bundy Sports Arena in East Mc- Comb. Now,back to the entertainment side of the show. Introducing rhe concert violionists, extra-ordi- nary, Jeanette Augsburger, playing Jo Anne Ewing's latest composition, Lukewarm Canary. Jeanette will be accompanied by the King of the 88, Hugh Kleinhenz. Here area few words from our alternate sponsor. We are highly honored to have Evelyn and Shir- ley Smith, the owners of the SMITH SISTERS COUGH DROPS CORPORATION, to tell us personally about their product. Our cough drops come in the following various colors: pink, lavender, tur- quoise and many others. Remember, with SMITH SISTERS COUGH DROPS there is not a cough and a car load. At this time we would like to present America's singing sensation, the Hancock HAIR RAISERS, The singers are Elaine Ritter, Joanne Wilson, Frank Rozelle and Don Barker who will sing Crying in the Sewer. Our next act is very unusual, the spectacularly champion, flaming baton twirler. This twirler has won District, State, National, and World championships. Now introducing the Grand Champion, Bob Stoep el. We have more celebrities in the audience. House lights please. Up in the left balcony, we see seatedthe World's Women Bowling Champs,Betty Finley,Ann Harden, Carolyn Orwick and Carol Sue Fundum. These girls have knocked down 10 pins in all corners of the world. Also, seated in the audience is the women's answer to J. Edgar Hoover, Bonnie Tate. And now, more entertainment. Ladies and gentlemen, we are honored to have with us the star of stage, screen, and opera, Nancy Ann Thomas, appearing on her first TV show. She will sing, for our pleasure, a song from the opera, Carmel. She will be accompanied by Janet Collingwood on the bag pipes. We have news ofthe happenings at the Geraldine Beam artist studios where Sandra Wagner's prize winning novel, THE SHORT MEN OR WHO CUT THE LEGS OFF CLARK GABLE, isnow being made into a movie. How did you like today's show? This has been an unusual show today. All of the honored guests and entertainers were members of the 1956 graduating class of McComb School. Miss Eleanor Painter turned off the TV set and tearfully turned to Miss McDonald, and together they reminisced of the happy days when these celebrities were their bright-eyed, rosy-cheeked stu- dents. Compliments of THE MORRISON STORES, Department and Dime I9
