When they arrived at the theater who should be clearing the walk of snow but Jerry Myers, who after running up a big gambling debt with 'Diamond Don LaRue' the gambling king, had to supplement his income by getting a part time job. Upon reaching the ticket window they spied Sharon Leiter who was selling tickets to help pay her way through business school. Inside the theater taking tickets, they found Ronnie Moore who had just been named the best dressed doorman. Asthey approached the popcorn stand they were greeted by Roberta Hale, who was busily popping popcorn, After buying some popcorn they went into the theater and were ushered to their seats by James Fogle who ushered them down aisle four in his Fogmobile. The sportsreel has just started and they saw the latest flashes of the game of the week, The McComb Manglers were playing the Deweyville Duckwalkers, and we see manager James Sheidler of the Manglers marching magnificently out to argue with the coach of the Duckwalkers, Robert Pickens, Suddenly Pickens threw a right and a left, and abruptly the sportsreel ended, Flashing on the screen next was the main feature, We see that the title of the film is 'Mouthy Mel Meets his Match. The story is built around the life of Melvin Peterman, the famous comedian. We see the film is written by Lois Carol Ziessler, the former Lois Carol Montague, who is the famous author of her day, and the story is from her novel of the same name. The movie was produced and directed by the noted Producer-Director Mr, James Haughn who has produced and directed such movies as Oh and 'Who Drug the Dragnet Away' which is better known as 'What Happen- ed to Jack's Webb? The stars of the movie we note are Miss Nancy Thomas, who is the famous character actress, in the part of his mother. Also in the movie is the Miss Marylin Fundum who in real life is married to this famous comedian, She plays the part of his wife in the movie. As the movie progresses we see the handsome James Leader, the bobbysocks delight, with his silver trumpet and his famous chorus line which has in it two old classmates of his, Norma Like and Shirley Foltz, Finally the show ends and the coming attractions are shown, The previews we see are of the famous dramatic team of Marcella Ewing and Alberta Hess who in private life are known as Mrs, Lionel Hawkins and Mrs, Ronald Courtright. An extra feature was shown on modern science. This movie was taken in the laboratory of the famous Phyisist Dr. Howard Troutner who at the time of the movie was working on an experiment for atomic control of the modified leniar gquatgon on radio active necular molecules, As his assistant and wife we find the former Emmalue unne , After leaving the show Dan and Thais went to the Black Panther Night Club where they see Roberta Wisterman the famous singer dining with Carol Keeran a famous Paris clothes designer and Betty Donaldson a Famous New York Stylist, Dan and Thais joined them at the table and discussed old times. Soon Mr, and Mrs, William Christman fthe former Pat Buchananj and Mr, and Mrs, George Brown fthe former Joy Shankj c-ame in and upon seeing the group joined them, Suddenly to the surprise of everyone a drumbeat announces the appearance of the famous night club star Dorothy Leader who upon seeing the group stops her act and joins the group at the table and they all talked way into the night. We were sorry to lose Jackie Pingle, Jane Goddard, and Dick Thayer, but glad to see Myra Cole back from Findlay. This year was a busy one as we had to work to make money for our class trip. Some of our money- making projects were selling Christmas cards, everyday cards, McComb Panther shirts, concessions at basketball games, a round and square dance, and our class play, Mr. Beane From Lima, directed by our class advisor Mrs, Ensign, who so willingly helped us make all of our projects become huge successes. May 22nd we entertained the seniors with a banquet in an 'Under the Sea' theme, We were served that evening by sailors and waves from the Sophomore Class, May 24th we served as honor guard for the Seniors' Commencement. Miss Painter was our home room teacher, and Mr. Schmunk acted as our class advisor this year. There are 31 members in our class this year. We were sorry to lose Florence Sterling, who moved to Van Buren, but were happy to gain a new member, Bud Sherick, from Liberty. Our class was well represented at the homecoming by our candidate, Paula Foltz. We were proud of the boys, in our class, who participated in the sport of basketball and football. Many of the girls participated in the school activities of G.A.A., F.H.A., and Y-Teens. In our business meetings during the year, we discussed and found ways of making money for our senior trip. Some of these were bake sales, saving tax stamps, a penny for your height, and we discussed a dance. We ordered our class rings, which are the prettiest yet, and we'll be looking forward to wearing them next year when you'll be seeing us as Juniors. Our first Little Eight league game was with Arcadia, we won. Our first defeat was handed to us by Cory-Rawson, next we played Hamler and were dealt another defeat. We played Van Buren on their floor and outscored them. Next we played Vanlue, they handed us our defeat. Then we played in the home floor of Liberty where we once more went down in defeat. The next game with Arlington brought us victory. During the Christmas tournament we played Deshler and they beat us by one point. Being in the lost column we played Grand Rapids and won and share of the honors. We started back in Little Eight play again by beating Mt. Blanchard. Starting in second round play we again won over Arcadia. Next we played league leading Cory-Rawson who again blasted our hopes. Playing Van Buren on the home court we beat the second place team. Vanlue which upset Cory-Rawson the night before dealt McComb another defeat. Playing Liberty on the home court we got revenge and handed them a defeat. Again we played Hamler and again they came out on top. Playing Ar- lington on the home court we sent them home beaten. Mt. Blanchard who had moved out of the cellar played on our court but we stopped their upward climb. The Panthers of McComb High entered the county tournament a determined crew and proved they meant business by downing their first foe, Liberty, de- cisively. The semi-finals paired McComb and Vanlue old time rivals in tourna- ment play. This year was no exception as the thrill packed contest was decided only as the game ending buzzer halted the action with Vanlue in front by the slimest of margins. The finale of a good season at our school.
