EIGHTH GRADE We opened this year with 40 students. We were sorry to lose Shirley Duncan, but were glad to welcome Russell Ernst and Roy Heiney. We now have 41 students. We elected the following officers for the year. President ............... Roger Orwick Vice President ..... . Rosie Wasson Secretary-Treasurer . . . . Anita Kurtz Reporter ........... . . Rosie Rader Historian ............ . . Mary Haughn Our class advisor was Mr. Ammons. We had a party at Sandra Shafer's house in October and a bake sale in November, that went off fairly well. We had a Christmas party in the gym with the 7th grade and we hope to have an 8th grade party in the Spring. We have had lots of fun this year and hope to continue having fun the rest of the year. We will be seeing you next year as Freshmen. 29

We were happy to add Rose Burnett from Continental, Dan Dietrick from Deshler, and Sara Myers from Belmore to our class. We were sorry to lose Larry Wilcox, who moved away in No- vember. In December we enjoyed a high school Christmas party. Later on in the year we had two successful parties. We chose as our class colors, scarlet and gray. Our flower is the white rose. Our class motto is, Enter to grow, depart to serve. 28
