CLASS HISTORY 1950-1951 In the month of September, 1950, the history of the Senior Class began. Twenty Five eager, but frightened children made that bold step from junior high into senior high. We started the freshman year by electing the following officers to lead us: President, Jack Finley, Vice President, Lois Martens, Secretary-Treas- urer, Bonnie Shoop, Reporter, Janet Deerwester, and Historian, Helen Keck- ley. We chose as our motto, Tonight we Launch-Where shall we Anchor? Our class colors are scarlet and gray,and the white rose was chosen as our class flower. We lost Ronald Perkins and Charles Parish to Van Buren,and Gene Niede- meyer, who moved to Findlay, however, we gained two new members, Bob Beam from Centerburg, and Phyllis Wagner from Hoytville. We held two enjoyable class parties our freshman year, one on December 16, and the other in the spring. To raise money we held a bake sale. 1951-1952 Our sophomore year started with Twenty Eight students reporting on schedule for the 1951-1952 school year. To lead our class for this year we selected these officers, President, Bob Beam, Vice President, Robert Barker, Secretary-Treasurer, Rosemary Leader, Historian, Lois Martens, and Re- porter, Janet Deerwester, Mr. Burt was named our adviser. We gladly welcomed three new members to our class. They were Dwain Augsberger and Sharon Greene, both from Findlay, and Sandy Chapman mi- grated from North Baltimore. At the end of the year we picked our class rings. 1952-1953 ' We had Twenty Seven members when our Junior Year began. We were sorry to lose Janet Deerwester, Barbara Sudlow, Mary Sterling, Sharon Greene, and Margaret Coakley, but with great pleasure we added Wayne Spit- nale from Liberty and Sarah Spence from Deshler. The following officers took charge our Junior year: President, Helen Keckley, Vice-President, Lois Martens, Secretary-Treasurer, Rosemary Leader, Historian, LaDonna Myers, Reporter, Janet Deerwester. Our ad- viser for the year was Miss Sloan. A big boost was given to our treasury by having a successfulbake sale early in the year. The sale of pop corn at basketball games didn'thurt either. 23

I, Bob Barker,hereby will my ability to do nothing in shop class to Lowell Spitnale, providing he doesn't sand over two boards per 6 weeks. I, Betty Watson, hereby will my ability not to laugh in class to Marcella Ewing so she won't irritate Mac . I, Naomi Newell,hereby will my glasses to Mr. Finley so he can give them to the blind mice who referee our football games. , I, Bonnie Shoop,hereby will my ability to drive a car without a license to the Freshmen boys providing they don't get caught. I, Rosemary Leader, hereby will my ability to milk six cows, and catch the bus by eight fifteen to Dan Shoop so he will make it to school on time. I,Roger Adams,hereby will mybassvoicein Boy's Cvlee Club to the teno.r section so they will remain out of tune the following years. I, Ned Dillinger, will my milk truck to Bruce Chapman so he won't have to walk home after football practice. I, Sandy Chapman, hereby will my remarks in Sociology class to anyone who can confuse Mr. Ammons as much as I do, I, Ray De Weese, hereby will my ability to break eye glasses to Bob Snively, providing he doesn't break over seven pairs. I, Daryl Ewing,hereby will my chances to shoot a deer to any deer-hunter that is a better shot than I am. I, Lois Martens,hereby will my speedy reading ability to Jim Fogle, pro- viding he doesn't remember what he read. I, Gene Routson,hereby will my speedy car to Joan Harper,providing she can catch as many boys as I have girls. I, Sarah Spence, hereby will my quiet disposition to Janice Altman, pro- viding she doesn't over work it. I, Louis Wilcox, hereby will my ability to work in shop class while the other boys loaf to Bob Pickens. I, Bob Beam,hereby will my long underwear to Markie Deerwester so he will have an up-to-date cheering outfit for next year. The Fighting Fishers, a very enjoyable play, was presented by us in April. In May we entertained the seniors with the annual Junior-Senior Banquet. The theme, Paris, was the best yet, we think. 1953-1954 We started our Senior Year by electing Rosemary Leader as President. Our other officers were: Vice President, Bob Beam, Secretary-Treasurer, Helen Keckleyg Historian, Jack Finleyg Reporter, Betty Watson. During the year we held a Homecoming supper before the Cory-Rawson football game. We also held several bake sales during the course of the year. We sold refreshments for one -half of the home games during basketball sea- son. We also collected sales tax stamps. Our efforts were well rewarded by being allowed to be the first class for many years to take a class trip. We had a wonderful time in Washington, D.C. We were proud to present the Inner Willy as a class play our final year at M.H.S. The play was enjoyed by all who attended. We enjoyed ourselves immensely at the banquet given tous by the Juniors. The events that brought our years as students at M.H.S. to a close were Baccalaureate on May Z3 and Commencement on May 24. 24 , m W V-
