CLASS HISTORY 1949-1950 Hi, everybody! Although this was only our freshman year in high school, we felt as though we already Hbelongedf, Thirty-six Freshmen returned to M. H. S. that fall to become an active part of the upper four. We were glad to have Raymond Crawfis as a new member of our class, but we were sorry to lose Rila Chamberlin, who moved away during the summer. We elected the following officers to lead us through the year: president, Tom Loy, vice president, Ronald George, secretary-treasurer, Freddie Metz, reporter, Jim Campbell, and historian, Doris Bryan. We chose Miss Frail as our class advisor. Blue and silver were selected as our class colors with the pink carnation as our class flower. As our motto we chose We'll Find A Way Or Make Onef, Our class held a Halloween party at the home of Lois Spitler. At the party we enjoyed a weiner roast and the Hall of Horrorsf, ln the spring we had another class party which was fun for all. 1950-1951 In September 1950, 34 boys and girls returned to school as Sophomores. We had come through our fresh- man year with flying colors and were well established as members of McComb High School. To guide us through our sophomore year we elected the following officers: president, Mary Donaldson, vice president, Fred Metz, secretary-treasurer, Joe Collingwood, historian, Durlene Kurtz, and reporter, Diane Mapes. We chose Mr. McVey as our class advisor. We had two class parties, both of which were held in the club room at the school house. A good time was had by all!!! All of us were proud of our class because we were well represented in school activities, especially music and sports. One important event in this, our second year of high school life, was the choosing of our class rings, which, of course, we think are the prettiest yetl We were sorry to lose Pat Martin, who moved to Rawson. But in February we welcomed Ray Lloyd into our class. 1951-1952 This year opened in September with our shiny new class rings waiting for us. The first day of school found us with 34 members in the Junior class. We were glad to receive Pat Martin, Shirlee Goddard, and Paul Davis, but regretted to lose Durlene Kurtz in January. Our elected officers were as follows: president, Durlene Kurtz, vice-president, Martha Sparroweg secretary- treasurer, Mary Donaldson, historian, Sharon Wilkinson, and reporter, Lois Spitler. We presented a comedy entitled uQuiet, Everybodyn on April 25. Although we didn't believe it would be, it was very successful. And we hoped everyone enjoyed seeing it as much as we enjoyed presenting it. Since we were badly in need of some capital, we sold popcorn at the basketball games, saved tax stamps. and held a bake sale during the year. May was a busy month for us as we served as ushers at Baccalaureate and at Commencement formed a Guard of Honor for the Seniors. To make the year complete and perfect, we entertained the Seniors with a banquet on May 24, using an Hawaiian theme. Our chapter of history was now very near an end. However, we looked forward to our Senior year with much anticipation for it held in store for us many activities. 1952-1953 We began our final year at M. H. S. with an enrollment of 35. We were very sorry to lose Dick Self and Ray Lloyd, but glad to welcome Jack Shiedler. To see us through this year we elected Joe Collingwood as our president. Other officers were: vice presi- dent, Tom Loy, secretary-treasurer, Fred Metzg historian, Mary Donaldson, and reporter, Janice Eberly. We chose Mr. Clapper as our advisor. We were very sorry to see him leave us early in November. Mrs. Welly then became our advisor. On October 7, we went to Greens in Findlay to have our pictures taken. We held a very successful class party in the club room at school. Everyone enjoyed square and round dancing and playing cards. We had wonderful food to eat and lots of it. We planned another party later on in the year. On November 7, we presented our play, uRest Assured,', under the able direction of Mr. Clapper. We were honored by the Junior class on May 23, when they entertained us with a banquet. The last events for us were Baccalaureate on May 24 and Commencement on May 25. We hope that we have left a good impression on McComb High School and that we have set an example for other students to follow. And now as we stand on the threshold of life, we are filled with a determination to umake good! 18
