MEMENTO 1945 Class Prophecy Here it is, 1965, and I, Snoop Scoop Pendleton, am bringing to you the twentieth annual re- port on the doings of my classmates of the year 1945. Through my inquisitive efforts, I have gathered together the following information. I shall vouch for the authenticity of the statements. Mildred VValker is now mourning the loss of her husband. After three weeks of married life, he died of her cooking. Mildred says it served him right. She told him that she wanted a maid. Keith Collingwood, with his ninety per cent average of raising ton litters, is now running com- petition with the world's champion hog raiser. All admire his great ability, and he deserves much credit, even though he did stretch the truth slightly in his records. Assisting Keith with his hog raising is the former Goldie Hahn. She has proved herself a dandy farm hand. Sara Kiger suffered a nervous breakdown early in life trying to be true to all her Army and Navy boy-friends. After a long fight to regain her health, Sara is now an old maid at thirty-eight, but prefers to call herself an unclaimed blessing. Rooming with Sara is the girl we all knew as Jody Wasson. Josephine burped while eating her wedding cake and scared her newly-won hus- band away. She's never seen him since. Johnny Matyas, the electrical wizard, has invented a new addition to television, called Smelle- vision . Because of his invention, millions may now have the aroma of far-away things brought to their very noses. Ronald Miller now claims to have the largest harem in the world. He never could decide which girl he wanted, so he moved to Arabia where he could have them all. On the night of his graduation, Earl Newcomer mysteriously started to grow, and is now feat- ured with Ringling Brothers as the tallest man in the world. Also featured in the same show is Marcella Rozelle, the world's greatest tight-rope walker. Marcella has perfected the feat of walk- ing upside-down on the wire. Says she, It's really very simple if you know how. One of the few lady truck drivers in the United States, Dorothy Haddox now drives a semi from San Francisco to New York. Dorothy is reputed to be one of the best lady drivers in the world. She seldom hits more than two pedestrians a week. B'llL ' li 1 anker was so inspired by a certain Cadtt lwavy Nurse from Columbus, that after his career in the Navy, he entered into the study of medicine. He is now associated with the Mayo Clinic. Bill Smith, after searching the better part of six continents for an ideal mate, is now in the wilds of Africa-still serarching. Bob Briekman was spotted for his athletic ability soon after school was out. Among his many laurels is an offer from the famous movie actress, Joan Davis, to play opposite her in Brickman Scores Again . Bricky wanted Shirley Temple to play the role, but found that her time was all occupied. After successfully starring in several Burlesque theaters, Dick Moore is going on with his dra- matic ability. He hints that his next production, Rough Lovew, will be opposite Gravel Gcrtie. Wade Rider has combined semi-truck driving with poetry writing. He recites his poetry to every waitress along the route, and, though rather old, is still the most ambitious wolf in America. Running close competition to Fred Astaire is VVhitey Tate, rcputedly one of the world's best jitterburgs. He has won many awards in world-wide competntion, and attributes his success to Ray's Dance Studio. To satisfy his curiosity about what the inside of the earth is like, Bob Pickens started to dig a hole to China. After fifteen years of digging, it got too hot for his and he was forced to quit. Pickens' Folly has netted him a fortune, however, since he hit upon the bright idea of charg- ing admission to the hordes of people who came to laugh at him. Miller Kersh has fulfilled his childhood ambition by becoming Shirley Temple's sixth husband. At the moment, however, it is rumored that Shirley is headed for Reno. Her reason-Kersh was seen with other women. Page seventeen

MEMENTO 1945 Joyce Brandeberry wills her boy-magnetizing ability to Betty Wilson who is to carry on the torch. Alice Coakley wills her definite dislike of school to Shirley Rider, providing Shirley steers clear of an early marriage. Edith Mitchell wills her ability to ignore men to Betty Snively, who seems to be going in the other direction. R1-va Snavely wills her herd of prize cattle to the school janitors, who are to keep them as pets in the furnace room. Bill Lanker wills his rugged manner of playing football to Howard Shoop, in the hope that Howard will become another Les Horvath. Miller Kersh wills his ability to get the women to Leroy Lovell, who is to use it as an aid in finding the perfect mate. Goldie Hahn wills the handicap of having to be in by 11:00 to Harriet Peneton, so that Harriet may devote more time to formal education. Alyce Baker wills her skill as a cook to Eileen Coakley, so that Eileen may change over to the domestic type. Gene Bovce wills his innocent, boyish look to Burdette Flemming, as Burdette seems to even frighten the teachers with his pugilistic character. Margaret Peneton wills her musical talen to Bob Patterson, knowing that Bob will make 'em swoon, as Sinatra does. Jody Wasson wills her taetful way of getting boy friends to Ruthie Routson, whose method requires too much energy. Betty Rader wills her love of farm life to Mary Lou Basye, providing Mary Lou becomes attached to a tiller of the soil. Jay MeDougle wills his habit of piling up cars without being hurt to Merlin Conrad, as Merlin seems destined to become another Barney Oldfield. Dorothy Haddox wills her rather shy manner toward boys to Joan Brecht, as Joan has a rather wolfish personality. John Matyas wills his scientific ability to Dean Norris. Be another Einstein, Dean. The entire Senior Class wills a, dictionary to Mr. Braden, with the hope he and Webster might get together on the English language. In testimony whereof, we hereunto set our hand and seal, and declare this to be our last Will and Testament, this twenty-fifth day of May, in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and forty five. Signed: The Senior Class of 1945 by Dick Moore Alice Coakley Mr. Joseph was illustrating an effect of static electricity to the Physics class. Leah Nell, he said, what happens to your underskirt when you take your dress off? The question alone was not embarrassing, but quick as a flash, Wade Rider answered, It sticks to her! Now-how did he know? Several of the dignified Senior boys were feeling ornery one day and put water on each other's seats. Their fun was at its peak when Miss Steiner walked in, and, seeing what they were up to quelled them with the following command: You've had your fung now sit in it! Page sixteen

MEMENTO 19-F5 Since Betty Rader has become manager of Shady Acres Golf Cocrse, there has been an ap- palling number of applicants for caddy jobs. All the men want Betty to teach them the game of golf. Paul Spitsnaugle, who, while still in High School, made up his mind to remain a bachelor, has succeeded Edgar Bergen as the most famous ventriliquist of his time. As fate would have it-, Paul fell in love, and though he was too bashful to do his own proposing, he had Oscar, his dummy, pro- pose for him. His wife is the former Edith Mitchell. Edith claims Paul can hold her on his knee just as well as he does any of his dummies. Jay Mcllougle is now a barker with the Woo-Woo Girlie Show. Jay says he really has some- thing to shout about. Something is a red-head, the star of the show. Naomi Fliekinger, who always aspircd to be a model, is now posing for Varga. She hastens to state that she always wears a bathing suit while modeling. Since Naomi has been on the job, how- ever, Esquire readers have noticed a definite decline in the curvaciousness of the Varga girls. They are beginning to complain. One of Vargafs closest rivals is Borga, the former Alice Coakley. Alice studied art while her husband was in the army, and, when he returned she was drawing a sizeable salary. While Alice toils over her drawings, Bill now takes life easy. Jim Rider, hoping to gain fame by being the first man to land on the moon, took off from earth on a warm June night in 1960. Jim, however, was greatly disappointed, for when he landed his space ship he found Alyee Baker and her new husband there on their honeymoon. Alyce and the Mr. wanted to be alone . Margaret Peneton is now the star vocalist of her husband's famous orchestra. Despite her singing career, she has found time to raise a family of ten. After being disappointed in love, Gene Bovee left McComb for distant places. He is now an Eskimo in the Far North and whenever a woman comes within a mile of him, he hibernates with his pet polar bear. When her herd of Shorthorns grew too large for her farm, Reva Snavely moved to Texas. There she met her husband, a real-life cowboy. She now raises Longhorns and children- Doing her best to carry on the ideals of an All-American Farmer, who was her inspiration dur- ing most of her High School years, is Doris Miller. She has proved herself a real tiller of the soil. Joyce Brandeberry is still cp to her old tricks. After a hard fight to gain fame, Joyce is now the premiere danseuse of her own show, currently appearing at the Capitol. And so ends the twentieth annual report on the Class of nineteen forty-five, compiled by my own untiring efforts to find and report gossip when it happens or beforeg and I remain your hard- working correspondent, Snoop-Scoop Pendleton, who modestly lays claim to the distinction of being the greatest rcpprter of all time. Mr. Braden was giving one of his famous UID tests in Speech and the class as a whole looked usually blank. Finally Mike Miller spoke up: Mr. Braden, he said, I don't believe that we've studied the material that you're giving us a test over. Oh, everything is right in the book, Mr. Braden laughed fiendishly. Yes, retorted Mike, but you make us keep our books closed! Howard Peneton was pacing the street at 3 o'clock one May morning when Two Gun Laney strolled by. Two Gun : What in the world are you doing out here at this time of the morning? Howard: Well, I forgot my key and I'm waiting for Margaret to come home to let me in. Page eighteen
