Here we see a promising class of greenies. Like all Freshmen, this class was very green an bashful until the Seniors took it out of them with paddles at the Customary initiation. Being the caboose to the train of high school classes, these poor Freshmen were draped around trying to get into the social swim. Walt llisney would relate some of these specimens to his famous character lJopey g or others to Bashful . Anyway, they'll wise up some day. The rest of the classes did 1? 'Z or did they'?j. This class is stamped as the most timid but carefree class in high school. They mind their own business and appear to be the most studious class in the building. Janet White was elected their first President, Ned Bennett, Vice President: and Louise Bovee, Secretary-Treasurer. They chose as their class fiower the Red Carnation. Their colors are crimson and gold and their motto, 'iTruth, Courage, and Loyalty . Already they have shown themselves active in music, sports, etc. So with a motto like that we shall probably hear more of them next year. We're on Our Way These are the promising sophomores. Already they have shown themselves active. James Haddox has been elected President both in the Freshman and Sophomore year. John McCamey is their Vice President and Rex Inbody is the Secretary- Treasurer. Bob Shafer of this class was on the first team in basketball this year. Robert Dillon moved from Mt. Blanchard and joined this class since the above picture was taken. Mr. Bowers is the class advisor. They have held one party this year. It was held at the school house. In the Freshman year they chose the pink rose as their favorite flowers and blue and silver as their class colors. Their motto is 'tAlways Lead, Never Follow . Two of the girls were on the first team of basketball. They were Betty Engard and Norma Freed. Can you match these other Sophomores with their activities? Eighth Grade Class History At the beginning of the year the eighth graders elected officers. They are as follows: President-Blanche Farquharson, Vice President-Beverly Nusbaum, Sec- retary-Phyllis George, and Treasurer--Dorothy Gorby. This is the first year the eighth graders have been considered as a part of the high school, but they are lboking forward to next year when they will be a real part of it. The class was well represented at our home basketball games, selling popcorn at all of them. The eighth grade took an active part in chapel programs during this past year. Marilyn Leib was selected as their committee member to help prepare the programs. In February, Blanche Farquharson and Dorothy Gorby, gave interesting talks on the life of George Washington. We were also entertained with special numbers by some of their class members with Beverly Nusbaum singing God Bless America , and a quartet composed of Marilyn Leib, Rachel Saul, Joan Pendleton, and Marilyn In- body.
