Connie Conerly, Olin Mauldin, Each year, a small per cent of senior stu- dents in the United States are designated as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. This honorary distinction is made on the basis of scores achieved by these individuals on the Scholastic Aptitude Test section of the College Entrance Examination Boards. They are among the 14,000 high school seniors throughout the country eligible to con- tinue efforts toward earning four year Merit Scholarships to the colleges of their choices.
