McCollum, being the underdogs to Central Catholic, came out with the second victory of the season. The Cowboys took the lead in the first quarter with a 74-yard drive with B. Chessman scoring. J. Bailey recovered a fumble in the last part ofthe first quarter to set up another touchdown. On the first play of the second quarter, T. Williamson drove in from the 38-yard line. Williamson threw to T. Westbrook for the second touchdown after R. Hickman intercepted a pass. The Buttons scored their touchdowns in the second and fourth quarters.

McCollum, being heavily out-weighed and not as speedy as the Seguin Matadors, made up for it with the passing arm of Todd Williamson. It seemed to many that McCollumjust ran out oftime because the first quarter was fought well by both teams and only one touchdown was scored. But during the second quarter, the running of All-American Cleveland Vann seemed to be too much for the Cowboys. The Matadors scored 27 points in the second quarter to go in at halftime with a 34 point lead. The Cowboys came out passing in the third quarter with Williamson completing 16 out of 44 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns. The Cowboys scored twice with 34 and 21 seconds to go making the final score 40-22. Pack crush South San back, The Cowboys methodically overwhelmed South San for its first district victory. T. Williamson opened the scoring with a ll-yard pass to D. Pack. With another pass by Williamson and a one-yard run by B. Chessman, the score was 22-O at the half-time. T. Westbrook made a touchdown out of a pass from Williamson. S. lPack blocked a Bobcat punt and D. Ayala fell on it in the end zone for the final touchdown in the game. Capps proved his running skills by gaining 100 yards on 16 carries with Chessman gaining 75 yards on 16 carries.
