Lettermen Return To Lecicl Team i .. 'IA McCollum returning lettermen are, Butch Barbieri, Jesse Alvarado, Skippy Hajek, Tony Capps, Sam Pack, Pat Felux, Bruce Vetters, and Phillip Vineyard. McCollum opened the season with a loss to Alamo Heights. The Mules were quick to get on the score board in the first quarter. The Cowboys came back with Tony Capps fumbling into the end Zone and Wayne Pape falling on the ball for the score, to end a 57-yard drive. A pass from Bruce Vetters to Boyd Chessman put McCollum ahead 8 to 7. Alamo Heights came back in the next series to get ahead 13-8. In the fourth quarter, Alamo Heights came on to glide for another touchdown. With 15 seconds left in the game, a Mule recovered a knocked loose pass from David Pack. Heights scored from the five-yard line to end the game. Hector Torrez holds on as Joe Stair closes in on Heights ball carrier.

Defense Shows Determination E l E McCollumls Defense are Butch Barbieri, Tony Capps, Todd Williamson, Boyd Chessman, Skippy Hajek, Pat Felux, Robert Hickman, Joe Stair, Sam Pack, Phillip Vineyard, and Ray Click. After losing the first two games, the Cowboys picked up their pride V and walked over Austin Lanier defeating them 22-6. The scoring started off with the hard running of Tony Capps and Boyd Chessman and ended with the passing arm of Todd Williamson. The first score came as Tony Capps bulled his way in from the five-yard line to end a 22-yard drive for a touchdown. Williamson passed to Chessman for the 2 points. Austin's lone score was from the 19-yard line with a reverse. Austinis try for extra points failed. The Cowboys scored all their points in the second and fourth quarters. Todd Williamson rounds corner enroute to gain yardage against Austin.
