Proiecfs Teach Culture The age of international relation- ships in which we are now living calls urgently for language prepara- tion in the educational program of today. The aims of the French Department are to encourage and E. Cahalan guide students in gaining not only proficiency in the language, but also an understanding of the people and customs of France. The Spanish Department has separated Spanish I students into lingual and bilingual groups. The unilingual group will endeavor to acquire the sounds of Spanishg to aim for a basic vocabulary and use it fluently. Spanish II, not divided, is using a combination of group I and II, but in a more advanced stage. Emphasis tends to be more on grammar than audio. Latin I students study the basis of Latin and grammar, and also study simpler original selections. Latin II students study selections from various Roman writers. K. Loew A. Ruiz B. Soto R.
