Cfficers Supervise Club Learning and understanding the teaching profession is the main purpose of FTA. Implanting qualities of good teachers by exploring the student's interests and abilities in relationship to teaching is the aim of FTA. An active interest in teaching and a B- average are the requirements for membership. Among the many club activities were student teaching in September and May, and the State Convention held in Austin, Texas. Installation of officers by Mrs. L. Deasey was held in the early part of the year. A new point system was introduced this year pertaining to student teaching. FTA holds coffees throughout the year for teachers. The big event is the FTA banquet in May at which the following year's officers are FTA Emblem announced. Candle Sale Provides Funds Two of the VHO projects this year were a coffee for teachers ftop leftj and selling Christmas candles, displayed by Vikki Johnston, fbottom rightj. Rose Marie Knowles won first place in the girl's division of the Youth In Medicine category. This award was given by the Optimist during the annual Youth Appreciation Week ftop rightj.
