7eam Wamea weetkazl Autumn is traditionally known as typhoon season on the southside. What would the fall be without a flood in good old Six Mile Creek? This year the regular heavy seasonal rains in combination with Hurricane Beulah brought on a more tragic note with three fatalities on the washed-out bridge on old Pleasanton Road. Later, ice and rain were to combine to turn the McCollum parking lot into a Wintery mess. The skys cleared and it was time to crown the 767 Football Sweet- heart. The game against the Holmes Huskies was chosen as the appropri- ate time for the event, Candidates for the coveted title were Loretta Mueller, Melanie Moore, Susan Dos- sett, Cindy Howard, and Virginia Cupp. Making the presentation at halftime were Bruce Vetters and Butch Barberi, 'members of the Junior Varsity Football Team. Sweetheart Virginia Cupp received a dozen red roses along with a tradi- tional congratulatory kiss, crown 81 football necklace. 292

How could the Library function without the soothing quieting reminders from Mesdames Harp and Myers? And what would the students do without a place to read the latest magazines and drink ice water? ' As the various texts are thrown, slid, and stacked into some semblence of order the Cowboy begins to wonder if he might be Wrong in choosing biology ' instead of art I. Before the week is over he may also wonder at the wisdom l which compelled him to even consider eliminating study hall. l 291

Q X , ,A f 1 sf , ,, : rr, , , Stand in line and wait is the first activity one learns upon entering an institution of learning. This situation exists from the time one enters the line into the parking lot before school, faces the daily ordeal of climbing or descending stairs and risking his life in the cafeteria lines, ,til he finds it is time to once more gather his courage and attempt again the parking lot crowds. When ordering senior rings or caps and gowns, paying for your Wrangler, or posing for yearbook pictures, students can be seen shifting their weight from foot to foot trying to keep the circulation going. wwf -i f.
