Wiczmf genie pane McCollum High School isn't what one would call a c'Big Schoolw but by no means could it be called small. Driving by the school, one sees several buildings, quite a lot of land and what seems to be miles of chain link fencing. What people do not see and realize are the hundreds of people within the walls, grounds, and fences who are attempting to educate one another. From 8:30 ,til 3:30, 5 days a week the students and teachers endure the prescribed hours of instruction. Before 8:30 and after 3:30, the faculty and students enjoy the free exchange of ideas and opinion which broadened the scope of learning far beyond the confines of the classroom. To the people of McCollum, the school is much more than grounds, buildings, and fences-it is a place of learning plus the people plus the aspects of education which make the task of school a more pleasant experience. 290

How could the Library function without the soothing quieting reminders from Mesdames Harp and Myers? And what would the students do without a place to read the latest magazines and drink ice water? ' As the various texts are thrown, slid, and stacked into some semblence of order the Cowboy begins to wonder if he might be Wrong in choosing biology ' instead of art I. Before the week is over he may also wonder at the wisdom l which compelled him to even consider eliminating study hall. l 291
