He attends school hoard meetings, promotes public relations, and speaks at various community and school functions. Mr. Smith supervises the census department, compiles attendance' data, and serves as a retirement counselor for personnel. He is also responsible for preparing all state and federal reports, accumulating data for the Foundation School Program and approving student transfers within the district. 19 Mr. John C. Gonder, Superintendent of the Harlandale Independent School District, is personnel director and executive head of the school district. Mr. Gonder became superintendent of the Harlandale District in 1962. His duties are evaluating the needs of all the schools and organizing the guidance and counseling systems.
