Wfcgal com 2.0.7. 14444 ln the second year of existence, McCollum High Schoolls Reserve Officers Training Corps continued to build during the 1967-68 school year. An addition to the Cadet Corps, the McCollum ROTC Honor Guard Detachment was organized this year, This unit was established on a voluntary basis and has the duties of hall monitors during the morning and lunch periodsin addition to the groups many extra-curricular activities. A The McCollum ROTC Drill Team in its first year of competition received two of the six available trophies in Laredo's annual Washington Birthday Drill Competition. The team placed first in the Precision Drill phase of the competition and second in the overall phase. This year saw the organization of the lVlcCollum ROTC Rifle Team. This team participated in twelve competitive rifle matches including the Gulf Coastal Matches in Houston, Texas. The Cadet Corps attained a satisfactory rating for their Annual Formal Inspection during the school year. The Corps was considered outstanding by the inspectors. Leading the ROTC in 1967-68 are CfCol. Lurther Beck, CfLt. Col. Larry Reynolds, Cf2nd Lt. Julian Baily, CfCapt. Johnny Castillo, CfMzq. John Hernandez, ClCapt.
