M wwe Uqamzfmenld History and Civics Teachers are Mr. James Howder, Mr. Frank Farris, Mrs. Gladys McCollum, Mr. Al Reyna, and Mr. Russell Abrego, Faculty members are Mr. Gerald Nowotny, Mr. Joe Collins, Mrs. Ann Cook, and Mr. Sam Sluder. 1 3 Knowledge of the past is necessary in order to understand the present and fu- ture. The History de- partment urges stu- dents to take an active interest in their government and the history of their coun- try. As the year comes to a close, history stu- dents have a more comprehensive knowl- edge of the surround- ing world.

Fine Arts Department con- sists of speech, choir, art, jour- nalism, band, and pep squad. To train people interested in clerical work, bookkeeping, typing, and shorthand are of- fered. Bookkeeping aids stu- dents to keep accurate records. Typing teaches basic skills. Shorthand enables a student to transform the spoken word into a Written symbol in a shorter time. Science classes strive to give students a general under- standing of the vital role it plays in todayis world. Courses offered are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and General Science.
