English students do inten- sive reading in American and English literature and learn to create and express ideas intelligently. There are four levels of the Eng- lish department ranging from basic grammar to advanced senior literature. She is responsible for accurate student permanent records and her office serves as a general center for students and faculty. Mrs. Sandra Fisher and Mrs. Marjorie Nabors, attendance clerks, are responsible for keeping accurate accounts of students, absences and tardies. Mrs. Ophelia Harp, librarian, and Mrs. Betty Meyers, library secretary, aid students and faculty hy maintaining an adequate collection of facilities in McCollum,s library. Spanish and Latin are of- fered to teach students to com- municate, to understand the different cultures, and to aid the student in gaining knowledge of linguistics. Fine Arts Department con- sists of speech, choir, art, jour- nalism, band, and pep squad.
