SpecioIRecogniHon Basketball McClure High School playing in Frank Merriwel1 tradition, came from behind to win three successive Henry County Tournament games. These wins gave McClure, along with the County Champs, Holgate, the right to represent Henry County in the District Tournament at Anthony Waync. This was McClure's first try at the District crown in the thirty year history of the tournament. The past basketball season was the best in the Indians' history, finishing with 15 wins and 8 losses. Two of those losses coming at the hands of Holgate, who is ranked in the top four of the Class, B teams in the state. Both losses to Holgate were thrillers with the Tigers finally edging a fighting McClure team in the last few minutes. In the county tournament, McClure dropped the first game to Deshler by a 39- 35 score and beat Malinta the second game by 8 points 53-45. The next game with Hamler was the thriller of the tourney with McClure edging Hamlet in an overtime 32- 30. But the gem of them all was the consol- ation victory over a good Deshler team 46- 45. It was McClures' first victory over Deshler in a good many moons, and to a lot of loyal McClure fans, that win was the best of all. Sunday, February 28th, McClure drew forposition in the district tourney. And they played a good Edgerton club at 7:30, Friday, March 5th, This game ended with Edgerton on top 58-53. Senior Bond The Senior Band was very active the pastlyear. lt participated in the High School Band Day at Bowling Green in November, played at the Christmas program and presented basketball shows at the basketball games. Some of the shows presented included a Dragnet Show, a Disc Jockey Review, precision marching and a square dance routine. The Senior Band also participated in the District Music Contest at Bryan. Last year McClure Band received an excellent fill rating . This year the band received a.superior U1 rating at the District finals at Bryan, Ohio on Saturday, March 13th. This qualified the band to compete at the State finals on April 24th at Westerville, Ohio. Nice job kids. Good luck at State.
