MCCLUREAN HOME ECONOMICS The Freshman Home Economics Class of 1943-44 chose for its officers the following: Donna Boyer, President: Lois Jean Kramer, Vice-President: June Browning, Secretary-Treasurer: and lla Jean Arnold, Buyer. This class is quite large, but it is progressing rapidly under the super- vision of Miss Hatcher. Several members from this class served the F.F.A. and Basketball Banquets. The Sophomore Home Economics Class welcomed two Senior girls to their class this year, Marie Hartman and Lucille Orwig. Officers elected for this class are as follows: Marie Hartman, President: Lucille Orwig, Vice- President: Rachel Browning, Secretary-Treasurer and Ruth Dull, Buyer. Several members of this class were chosen to serve the Junior-Senior Banquet. F. F. A. The foundation on which the Future Farmers of America organization is built, includes leadership, character development, sportsmanship, co- operation, service, thrift, scholarship, improved agriculture, organized recre- ation, citizenship, and patriotism. Our F.F.A. has taken up several co-operative enterprises this year, a chain gilt project and a junk drive. This year we put gilts out with James Shaffer, Glen Good, and Bud Connolly. Two of these gilts are Berkshires and one Chester White. In this junk drive we collected 13 tons of scrap metal. Besides helping the war effort this scrap increased our treasury S79. The F.F.A. has also taken second place in the district Parliamentary Procedure Contest. We also took third place in a contest sponsored by Sears Roebuck 84 Co. Our F.F.A. took the S20 award for second place at the County Fair on our Booth exhibit, which centered around our contributions to the War effort. The officers this year are as follows: President, George Wells: Vice- President, Robert Farison: Secretary, James Shaffer: Treasurer, Wylie Busch: Reporter, Bud Connolly: Watchdog, Lyle Shellar: and our Adviser, Mr. Eckert.
