x'f ...!.. ,Mgt gggggi f N it .s,.,,,,,,,..m. 4 1943 . . . CLASS POEM . . . If some day you can't remember, Be it May, June, or December, Who were the members of '43 Turn to this poem and you will see. Under his guidance, we have trod, Of course you know lt's Mr. Dodd Who has served as our advisor, And by his teachings, made us wiser. If in a game, you are far behind You need some help but it's hard to find Call on Alton, he'll give you his best And that is enough to win any test. If your auto has you in a panic, You want a man who is a mechanic Come to us and we'll recommend- That Bill Frye to your troubles will tend. Some day to an opera, you may go And don't be surprised if on the stage, you see Flo For as a singer she rates the best, And in this ambition we wish her success. There's a girl so bright and gay, To be sure, it's Arla Maye And you wonder why the smile? A certain sergeant is home awhile. I suppose you know our Kate With her classmates she does rate, But give her the Air Corps any time, We won't tell you why because it won't rhyme. Zelapha is from East Decatur, And it's at the top we always rate her, For of this saying she takes much heed, A friend in need is a friend indeed . Here is Palmer Marshall the wit of our class, With a bashful look for a girl in the Freshman class But in his Sailor uniform he will be, .lust Who Who Now Why the same old Marshall when at sea. loves a Ford?-It's Betty Peck would travel with Erb in even a. wreck. maybe you don't know which Erb we mean of course, it is Paul of whom she is keen. She comes and goes and never sits It's Mary Jane who always Hits About with Baker in his car And in his Plymouth, she'l1 go far. And, surely you have heard of Dot She can tell you what is what, Never with her a mouth-battle pick For one thing is certain--you're going to get licked. The hell is ringing, he's in no hurry. For of being late he has no worry He's used to that, he's been late before, It's Clifford Romig who's late once more. Right now he is our candy man If he can't sell it, nobody can, He'l1 cut the corn, the wheat, the barley, It's our farmer, good old Charlie. Of timid Cecile we write this verse, We only hope she doesn't get worse For if she does, she'11 be so meek That she'll to no one ever speak. And now I know you've heard of Weader If you haven't, we'll have you meet her, For she is one of many talents And boy! Does she attract the gallants. And now I think I've reached the end, For this is all I d d intend- T0 leave something in your memory Of those good old mates of '43! n-as CAN DLEBEAM M.H.S

:bi f x UBI' ,W ,A, , , - f Y, JIOV CLASS HISTORY Four years have come and gone since the class of '43 first entered McClure High School. They have been four years filled with happiness and occasionally with some sorrow. In the fall of '39 we entered M.H.S. We num- bered 28 with 8 members from Mifflin County, and we were Greenies too, but the green soon wore off. VVe held a class meeting at which time we elected the following officers: President, Alfred VVagnerg Vice President, Palmer Marshallg Secretary, Carolyn VVagnerg Treasurer, Alton Brininger. We selected our colors, royal blue and silver gray. One of our social events that year was a hay ride, which was a great success. Again the school bell resounds and our number has dwindled to Z4 gay but serious Sophomores. Our officers who guided us through this year were: President, Alfred Wagner, Vice President, Palmer Marshallg Secre- tary, Zelapha Kneppg Treasurer, Billy Frye, and Historian, Mary Jane Peters. In this year we gained Darthy Rohrbaugh, as a new member. During this year we backed our Alma Mater in everything that came along. The wheel of time revolves and we are upper-classmen, or juniors, and 18 strong. We immediately held a class meeting and elected the following officers: President, Palmer Marshall 3 Vice President, Alton Briningerg Secre- tary, Cecile Wagner, Treasurer, Zelaplia Kneppg Historian, Betty Jane Peck. Among our social events were the class play and our Prom . Our class play entitled, Laugh Clown , brought our large audience laugh upon laugh. Our Prom was sprung upon the Seniors with a surprise of our ability to enter- tain. At last we are Seniors and our original 18 have dwindled to 14, but of course these are only the best of those who started. Our officers this year are: President. Palmer Marshall g Vice President, Clifford Rornigg Secretary, Mary jane Peters, Assistant Secretary, Cecile W'agnerg Treasurer, Phyllis Weaderg and Historian, Zelapha Knepp. -I-I-I- Class Motto: NON IN INGIBUS, SED PROGREDIENTES Class Flower: AMERICAN BEAUTY ROSE Class Colors: ROYAL BLUE AND SILVER GRAY THE 1943 CANDLEBEAM M- H S I I' 1-lx
