Bicentennial Revue A Salute to the American Theatre was a new and unique theatrical experience for the student body and the actors and actresses involved. This was the first time at NlcCluer that a teacher had written part of the play and directed it also. Snow caused cancelation of rehearsals and a slow start. Six weeks was a short time in which to put a show together. Time was spent in rehearsals Sun- day through Thursday, constant work on memorizing lines, learning song melodies and lyrics, collecting props, trying on costumes, and finally setting the lights and hav- ing dress rehearsals. The beautiful costumes seemed as though they walked right out ofthe movies and onto the M-1 stage. The mood ofthe scenes changed from drama to comedy as the play progressed. The actors, as if speaking to the audience, created a relaxed atmosphere to the audience throughout the three performances of A Salute to the American Theatre . 1. . 3
