IB BEE R B E E' QSO Q0 61 X9 3 7, 3 v McCluer's Bicentennial 1776-1976. The 200th birthday of America. McCluer is par- ticipating in the celebration by working on various activities and projects. Near the beginning ofthe year, McCluer held the Bicentennial Flag Raising, with Mike Wakeland as master of ceremonies. The needle art classes worked on an embroidered eagle. Jim Downey, a Senior, has been writing Broadside, the McCluer Bicentennial paper. Many activities at McCluer re- volved around the Bicentennial. The Spring Play, for instance, was A Salute To the American Theatre which was an illustrated review of the American theatre from the landing of the Pilgrims to the present day. The Social Studies department worked on the Kiosk, a large spool-like structure which contained pictures of Bicentennial events all over the country. ln the music de- partment, a Bicentennial concert was presented which con- tained American songs. The Iibrarian in the Bicentennial cos- tume, the M-3 Lobby Bi-State Bulletin Board, and the other displays around McCluer are making 1976 a year to remem- ber.
