LCDR Miller's initial as- signment was in USS PAPAGO QATF-1605 as Operations Officer. Eighteen months later he relieved as Executive Officer USS SENECA QATF-913, completing two years in this as- signment prior to entering the Naval De- stroyer School at Newport, Rhode Island, LCDR Miller reported to McCLOY from a tour in the Bureau of Naval Personnel, LCDR Miller graduated from the Florida State University and holds a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Georgia, He is authorized to wear the Navy Commen- dation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commen- dation ribbon and the National Defense, Armed Forces Expeditionary, Vietnam Ser- vice and Vietnam Campaign Medals. LCDR Miller is married to the former M. On ll July 1972, McCloy was underway for her first ex- tended operation in three years. The weeks preceding the deployment had been hectic, The dates had been changed three times, and until early June it had been uncertain if we were going to the Mediterranean or Northern Europe, Weeks of extensive prep- aration had gone into readying the ship for the weeks ahead, The ship had undergone a major facelifting and was now in excellent material condition.
