nyfs McClintock's English department adapts itself to every student's needs. Each student receives a thorough background of English grammar, and a review of ourstanding literature. To encourage creativity, a course injournalism is offered in which the students edit and publish the newspaper and annual. ' A course in creative writing is designed to acquaint the students with different styles of writing, the mechanics of writing, and to give ample time to making writing more vivid. Public speaking is offered to students to prepare them for living in a democracy where the spoken word is now more influential than the written word. Potter -McDaniel Our goal at McClintock is to teach each student to think clearly and honestly, to read thoughtfully, to com- municate effectively, and to listen intelligently. Hathcock 4
