The Tigers won their first three games easi- ly, but bowed to Portsmouth in the fourth for their first defeat. They had victories over such notable teams as Xenia Central and Columbus East, and finished the season in grand style as they won games over Washington C. H. and Cincinnati Norwood in two successive nights. They lost their tournament game to Chillicothe. Those who were awarded letters were: James Sellers, captain, Charles Mitchell, Norman Bax- la, James Rose, Roy Barr, Howard Martindill, Dale Allen, Delbert Purdin and a manager's letter to Kenneth Bond. We under- stand the people sitting around her usually have an extra free show. Gwen York receives this baby rattle to go with her personality. Maybe some day she'll grow up. We never hear very much from Marjorie Roberts so we give her this little horn so she can make a little noise. To the sleepy head of the class, Kenneth Penn, we give this bed so he can have a com- fortable nap. Those desks are a little hard. aren't they. Kenny? To Colleen Smith we give this permit to go with one boy steady and get a diamond from another all the same time. Don't you think you had better make up your mind be- fore it's too late? We give this little boat to Jody Garrett so she can sail the seven seas with Jimmy. To Betty Jones we give this wedding band, or have you already got one, Betty? This bus ticket to Bainbridge goes to Mari- lyn McLain. Now you won't have to use your car so much. We've decided Leona Cheek needs this book to sit on so she can see over the top of the desks. Jane Pierce lost her sailor so here's another one to replace Jimmy. Helen Griffith can probably put this furni- ture to good use in her new house. This traffic fine for five dollars goes to Paul Mills for the many times he hasn't got caught. How about that car you sideswiped, Paul? Lloyd Roads always takes his brother with him when he has a date so we give him this gun to protect himself. Ten Different Ways To Go with Athletes and Not Ruin Them, goes to Harriet Som- mers. Jay Harmount receives this glue so he can get stuck or someone besides himself. These sun glasses go to Alice Jo Penwell to keep the glare of that diamond she's trying so hard to get. This cow goes to Jacqulan Pence. Maybe this will remind her not to be so bossy . To Mary Knisley we give this man to re- place the one that got married. To Darrell Knisley we give these track shoes so she can run faster when the boys are chas- ing her on the creek road. This alarm clock goes to Mary Hollis so she can get to work on time for once. This book entitled How To Laugh Like a Lady, written by Joan Curry goes to Mildred McDonald. We hope it helps Mildred more than it did Joan. Patsy Ghormley receives this extra year at McClain so she can stick around next year and take care of George. To Juanita Ford we give this ray of sun- shine to remind her of a certain boy named Ray from Chillicothe. To Virginia Cox we give this bomb. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. These window blinds go to Pauline Coch- ran. Now you can have some privacy when you decide to park on a public street. Lucille Campbell never seems to make it to school on Monday morning so we give to her this excuse so she won't have to come on Monday mornings. To the man hater of the class, Phyllis Bar- rett, we give this shield so she won't get hit by cupid's arrow. Class Gifts Patsy Sollars seems to be too young for James Rose so we give him two years to put on her age. She's not too young, James. This rake goes to Gloria Allen to remind her of a certain sophomore boy with the initials F. R. We give this girl to Joe Copeland. You won't have to worry about this one because no one wants her. Pat Shrock receives this submarine to sink a certain ship that a certain sailor is on. To John Weaver we give this stationery to write to Doris in Atlanta. We give this new car to Joe Walker so he won't have to take his girl home on his motor- cycle. This cage goes to Charles Mitchell to lock Sandy Hill in. Now maybe he won't show up at the wrong time, Chuck. This piece of art goes to William Kelly so he'll have something to hand in to Mrs. Ham- ilton and he won't have to borrow from some- one. To Jerry Newman we give this nickel. Now you won't have to spend your own, Jerry. To Norman Baxla goes this balloon. Maybe you can put some of that hot air to some use for a change. To James Newland we give these poker chips to remind him of his excellent ability along that line. Roy Barr seems to have so many secret admirers at Chillicothe, so we give him this automobile so he can call on all of them. These six pairs of socks go to James Sellers since he will not have the opportunity to take any more football and basketball socks. This automobile glass goes to Tom Creach- baum to replace the one Sally Knox broke. By the way, how did that happen, Tom? Jack Satterfield is always talking about the big car he's going to get, so we give to him this Buick. To Patty Condon we give this book How To Act Like a Lady. We give this certificate to Clifford Royce for being the only boy to receive more deten- tion than any other student from Mr. Davis. In case Clarijane Horn decides to change her name in the future we give her this little horn so she will never forget her name. To Joan Curry we give this patent so that no one can ever take that beautiful giggle from her. Byron Cracraft receives this vanishing cream to cover up his deceitful ways. To Paul Weller, we give some time to come down town at night. We think you are at home. or are you? We innocent six have done our work: We bought your gifts and dug our dirt, And we hope your feelings are not hurt. But she must be after those long hikes she takes. PAT SHROCK seems to think there's only one girl for him. Get wise, Pat can't you see she's taken. U.S.N. PATSY GHORMLEY wants to take a post- graduate course. We don't think it is the knowl- edge she wants, not that she couldn't stand some more, so it must be that she wants to be with George. BILL MARTINDILL must be a one-woman man but he hasn't found that woman yet. We know a lot of girls that will help you, Bill. The Senior Class has its own Public Ad- dress system in the form of VIRGINIA COX and her constant talking! She developed it from contradicting Mr. Rhude. JERRY NEWMAN is a soda-jerk. We say, leave off the soda and you've got it right. We see CLARIJANE HORN has finally stopped trying to rob the cradle. It's about time you started waiting for Charles. We hear JOE WALKER is quite rough in first period gym class. But what we can't under- stand is, what happened to you in football, Joe? And, as usual, our class has a cradle rob- ber, too. Ours is in the form of GLORIA ALLEN. Or is she? You can never tell about Gloria. PAUL COWGILL certainly can't be com- pared to the three little monkeys who saw noth- ing, told nothing, and heard nothing. In Paul's case he sees everything, tells everything, and knows absolutely nothing. MARILYN MCLAIN will soon be Mrs. Harry Raypoole or is it Mrs. W. F.? At first appearance BYRON CRACRAFT seems to be a shy, sleek lad. But his favorite song is Show Me the Way To Go Home. We have something to say to GWEN YORK. When you arrive at your age, Gwen, you're supposed to act grownup. JAMES ROSE certainly thinks he's on the ball. The only thing is, he doesn't have any bearing to go with it. We just wondered if JOANNE GARRETT knew Pat was still alive? What's the matter, Jody? Were you just passing your spare time? What are you trying to do, JAY R. HAR- MOUNT, bring the Wild West into Greenfield? We've looked high and low for something on RUTH ROADS and at last we've found one. Could it be H. Bill M.? JACK SATTERFIELD gets A's in typing in spite of his attention to Mary Lou. Since JACQULAN PENCE plans to go in- to training at Christ Hospital, we are sure the doctors will start scientific improvements at once on her big head since there is plenty of space to work with up there. CLIFFORD ROYSE didn't get very good grades in school, but he surely took high honors in the contest to see who was tardy the most. DARRELL KNISLEY must think she's a good little girl when she tries to reform every- one. Well, everyone to his own opinion, we always say. As LLOYD ROADS and his brother always date together, we wonder who is chaperoning whom and why. Afraid of Lois, Lloyd? May- be just the darkness. They say BETTY JONES is a good actress. The only thing is, she acts all the time. Be more normal, Betty. BILL KELLEY just can't seem to get inter- ested in history since he's all wrapped up in the women, especially Nancy. COLLEEN SMITH gets a diamond one night and the next day she asks a different boy to go back with her. Are diamonds a dime a dozen, Colleen? They say there is some good in everyone, but the exception to this rule is JOE COPE- LAND. Hopeless, Class Knocker LUCILLE CAMPBELL says she has a lot boy frlends but we never see any Where you keep them Lucyo We wouldnt mmd all of JOHN WEAVER S bragging on hlmself If he just had something lnterestmg to brag about JANE PIERCE IS betwnxt and between We would like to know whlch one you are the most rnterested ID Roy Mervm Donald or John? We feel sorry for Howard because he never has a girl friend. We give the degree of H.B.-Heart Break- er-to PATSY GHORMLEY and JODY GARRETT. They seem to have broken all the boys' hearts. We think S.S. -Stage Struck-fits BETTY JONES pretty well. Do you act even when you are asleep, Betty? Since JACK SATTERFIELD spends about every Friday night in Hillsboro we give him the degree H.F.N.C.-Hillsboro's Friday Night Caller. GWEN YORK never seems to have enough of it, so she says, so we give her a great big P.-Pep. We hear LEONA CHEEK is pretty good at yodeling so to her goes the degree of Y.L. -Yodeling Leona. GLORIA ALLEN was afraid we'd mention Freddie and her so we'll give her the degree of S.B.D.-Sophomore Boy's Delight. We feel PAT SHROCK should get the de- gree of H.B.-Heart Broken since Jody has left him for someone else. Everyone tells us JUANITA FORD just can't remain in Greenfield for her dates so to her goes G.T.-Globe Trotter. RUTH ROADS can't seem to get a man although her sisters have done pretty well. To her goes K.T. -Keep Trying-and maybe someday you'II get your man. JOE COPELAND gets L.B.-Lover Boy. We didn't know Joe had such talents. but Don- na could probably tell us more about that. MARJORIE ROBERTS remains so far off from the rest of the class that we never got to know her so we give her M.Q. - Miss Quiet. To TOM CREACHBAUM we give G.U.- Grow Up. You're a big boy now, Tom. To PAT HAYNES goes H.C.C.-Hope Chest Collector. We hope you get him after all. Pat. S.S.S.-Sweet, Stubborn, and Sorry goes to JANE PIERCE. We feel you had just cause. Jane. We're told from good sources that TELY- THA BAKER is a M.F.-Movie Fan. Did you ever see a good picture. Telytha? No one seems to know that DARRELL KNISLEY likes a preacher so to her goes P.P. - Preacher's Pet. Most of the girls are wild about JOE WALKER but he seems so shy so to him goes H.B.S. -Handsome But Shy. Rosemary Todhunter seems to just love ROY BARR'S dimples so to him goes D.B.- Dimple Boy. VIRGINIA COX seems to want straight A's in everything but Mr. Davis just won't give her one in history, so to make up for it we give her a straight A. COLLEEN SMITH seemed to have changed boy-friends quite suddenly so to her goes U.- Undecided. HELEN GRIFFITH draws B.T.B.-Bride To Be-since she is getting married after school is out. ELLIUTT 81 SON One quiet evening in 1960, a few old school chums-Gwen York, Juanita Ford, Darrell Knisley, Jay Harmount. and Jack Satterfield- dropped in to watch my new colored television set. You know the kind with I5-foot screen. platinum knobs, etc. They disposed of their jet-propelled limousine in the private parking lot, and took the elevator to the seventh floor of my cozy, modest twenty-floor residence. The faithful old servant, Tom Creachbaum. entered fdragging his ball and chain behindb bearing a tray of tall, frosted glasses of atom milk. We settled back in our plush chairs, and focused our attention on the television screen. Suddenly, much to our delight. two former classmates, Byron Cracraft and Glenpat Shrock, appeared singing a commercial for Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer. Judging from their ex- perience in high school, they should be experts by this time. This attraction was followed by a Women's Wrestling Match, which featured Marilyn McLain, now the world's champion woman wrestler known professionally as the B. O. Bombshell. Her contender was none other than . . . Egad, Roy Barr! Oh, the rascal, taking unfair advantage of that poor, defense- less female. Next before our fascinated eyes flashed the image of Clarijane Horn, vocalizing fthe term is applied looselyl on an advertise- ment for Burp's Better Birdseedf' Hurrah for Clarabelleg we were always confident she'd find some worthy use for her exceptional talents. We then tuned in that famous news commenta- tor, Clifford Royse, noted for his deep, mellow voice. Some bulletins of particular significance were: The mad scientist, Norman Baxla, has just perfected a weapon more terrific than the hy- drogen bomb! Appropriately enough, he has christened it Gloria's Equal. Out in Hollywood, the motion picture di- rectors have awarded that fabulous cinema ac- tress, Betty Jones, an entirely new and different Oscar--for cutting more actors out of their lines than anyone else in filmland history. That much frequented establishment in New York. Patricia Condon's Correct School for De- linquent Girls, was razed in the hottest fire of the century. The cause of the blaze has as yet remained undetermined. In a musty, abandoned cellar, an old, white- bearded hermit was accidentally discovered. His constant occupation is that of counting his money, which he has hoarded since an infant. Giving his name as Jerry Newman, the fanatic repeated again and again. I want to be alone, I want to be alone. After the authorities had viewed him in daylight, they decided perhaps he would be better off in his dingy, little hole. This concluded the news hour. Now it was time for that eagerly anticipated mystery show, the Ghoul's Garbagecanu or Unhand that Limburger Cheese, you cad. I smelled it first. The star of the gory story was Joan Curry, out- standing for her . . . er . . . ah . . . unique countenance and gentle, melodious voice. She was ably assisted by Elsie Rittenhouse. Lloyd Roads portrayed the wicked villain of this grue- some tale the always was the rugged, Nature- boy type in high schooll, and William Kelly played the tough, Irish cop. fWell, Irish any- way.J After this delightful drama, another com- mercial ensued. This one sponsored Ulcer's Allnight Adhesive for Drooling Denturesf' Charles Mitchell, with his pearly bicuspids, made an effective model. In vivid color, the subsequent attraction pro- claimed itself-the actual Broadway premiere of that shocking movie, Tugboat Annie Blows a Gasket, starring the sultry gun moll, Patsy Ghormley, in the most widely acclaimed per- formance of her eventful career. She's behead- ed in the first five minutes of the picture. Among the arriving celebrities, we discerned with wild elation many of our childhood chums: Wanda Hodge slinked by, arrayed in expen- sive furs. You'll recall no doubt, Miss Hodge was selected by the United Undertakers Asso- ciation as the girl they would most like to be buried with .... James Sellers with his cus- tomary dignified gait, who is now the famed coach of the Humboldt Hardheads .... the wealthy tea magnate, Joseph Walker, who has amassed an enormous fortune from his Sas- safras Slimy Slop industry .... that well-known authoress, Jane Pierce, whose clever novel, Con- fessions of a Bubblegum Fiend heads the cur- rent best-seller list .... the dashing bachelor, Kenneth Penn, who has attained national recog- nition from his tombstone verses. lSuch a seri- Clclss Prophecy ous boy!J . . . Jody Garrett, star of that touch- ing, true-to-life radio serial, Hortense Has Hali- tosis .... those two fearless adventurers, John Weaver and Paul Weller, who have just returned from a journey to the moon. When asked for a comment for publication, they responded sol- emnly, At last we know where naughty Chloe's been hiding all these years! . . . Paul Cowgill, now a successful designer of men's attire. He distinguishes himself by appearing in the latest fashion for males-bare midriff, full, knee- length skirts, and lacy pantaloons .... the popu- lar songwriter, Howard Martindill, whose tender, romantic love ballad, Why Do You Act As If I Had Leprosy? is first on the hit parade. . . . in a striking chapeau, Gloria Allen, more extensively known by her well-deserving title, Miss Ingrown Toenail of l96O, made an im- pressive entrance .... she was followed by the honorable James Newland, who is the president of that thriving movement, National Organi- zation for the Extermination of Shmoos . . . . then came the greatest thrill of the entire occa- sion! Our esteemed first female president, Har- riet Sommers, attended the gala affair. Miss Sommers, as you know, has advocated a bill to place all the male sex in irons. When ao- proached as to the reason for such a drastic measure, she replied fiercely, I hate all men with a passion! fSame old Sommersj As the evening progressed, so did the charm- ing cavalcade of familiar faces. There was lit- tle Leona Cheek fyou know, the little l'm not married, kid J strumming on her trusty, rusty guitar and rendering an advertisement for Bili- ous Brothers' Garlic Gumdrops for Frustrated Canasta Players. On to that hilarious quiz game, Stick 'em up, with the congenial mistress of ceremonies, Ruth Roads. fRemember how quiet she used to be in school.J One woman, Mrs. Robert Taylor, or better known to us as Helen Grif- fith, was refused admittance because the studio couldn't accommodate her large family. As the contestants were interviewed, it was revealed that Jacqulan Pence, Mary Hollis, and Patty Haynes were there to attend the annual Old Maids' Revival Meeting. fMore power to you, kids!J Other participants were: the eminent Mr. Paul Mills, who has recently published a master- piece entitled My Ten Years in the Snake Pit and How They Grew. fHow did he ever get out, anyway?J . . . that rich pea planter, James Rose .... the show was also very compliment- ed to have present Miss Lucille Campbell, cele- brated star of smash Broadway production, Kiss and Eruptf' At intermission, the popular crooner, Joe Copeland, sang his well-known theme song, With My Tongue Hanging Out. Also Mar- jorie Roberts delivered a commercial for Won- der Worm Wart Remover. As the cameras swung around to include the audience, we perceived, much to our horror, that their attention was directed back in the corner where Telytha Baker, Pauline Cochran, and escorts were providing a much more enter- taining performance. CThose dreadful girlsll Be- fore beginning the second portion of the program, one member of the audience had to be ex- cluded because of loud and violent talking. The housewife gave her name as being Colleen Smith. fMy! how life changes people.J The last two contestants were Mildred Mc- Donald, a prosperous woman lawyer, and Mary Louise Knisley. We were all glad to see Mary awarded the jackpot for now she could dis- continue her employment in the coal mines. Next on the agenda was that old favorite of us all, the Contaminated Creek Hour . The soft, dreaming organ music was furnished by Phyllis Barrett while Alice Jo Penwell and her golden throat did the vocal honors. Having enjoyed ourselves immensely, we re- luctantly switched off the television set, and the gang departed. This certainly had been an eve- ning we would never forget. We didn't look at crystal balls Nor did we look at tea leavesg We've just had some childish fun So don't harbor any grudges . . . PLEASE!
