COU-YER The Class of 1984 dedicates this year's ARTISAN to Mrs. Boisvert and Mr. Collyer, our class advisors. We are indebted to them for their encouragement and help in all the many activities which the Class of '84 undertook. All our fund-raising activities, the Junior-Senior Prom, the dues collecting, and most importantly, the events connected with our graduation were successful because of their advice and efforts. Most importantly, we believe they enjoyed working with us, and we are happy they touched our lives. We will remember them with affection and gratitude. -.4- alhn... A MESSAGE T0 THE CLASS 0 19 4 .. This publication represents your final, formal contact with McCann Tech. On the evening of June 6, 1984, you evolve from the status of McCann students to McCann graduates. with this evolution comes a new responsibility and independence. We have attempted, over the course of the last four years, to provide you with the tools necessary to complete a successful transition from a sheltered world centered around the uschoolhousen to t e in ependent world beyond. It is my hope that you have utilized these tools well and that your opportunities for success are plentiful. There is a certain honor associated with being a McCann graduate. You will discover this difference as the years pass on. Best wishes to all of you, the Class of 1984. J HN P. AVERY N Principal NEW ENGLAND ASSOCIATION OF SC HOOI. The BIG win of the season was the 20-14 win over Drury. The team had been awaiting the thrill of this victory for a very long time, and it finally happened. As fans and players chanted, We're ffl, the whole county knew that we had upset Drury. We were very proud to have Brian Tatro, Paul Bissaillon, Matt Saldo, Ken Benoit, Henry Gibson, and Chris Murch chosen on the All- Kosier Team. Although eight Seniors will be lost through graduation, we are certain that we have a lot of talent left on the team which will make next year a winning season. KNEELING: P. Bissaillon, D. The suspense of the season was waiting for Neal Giorgi to score the basket that would give him 1000 career points. Neal had 16 points to get in the game against Mt. Greylock to reach this magic number. In a packed gym during the 4th quarter, Neal finally scored the magic point and went down in McCann Tech. history as the second person to achieve this goal, the first being his brother Alan. Although this season was not as successful as we had hoped it would be, we are looking forward to a more promising season next year. Next season we will be without the fine playing of the four Seniors who are graduating - Mike Blair, Gary Blanchette, Henry Gibson, and Neal Giorgi. 43 GIRLS , BASKETBALL 1984 The 1983-84 girls basketball team was very pleased to have Coach Robinson as our new coach this season. With only four girls returning to the team this year, he faced a year of rebuilding the team and he succeeded in doing so. Even though the scores didn't reflect how hard they worked, the girls' attitudes and abilities showed that they had determination. Their willingness to show up for practice every day and to play hard in every game, despite often superior opponents, showed that they understood the true meaning of sportsmanship. We look forward to a more successful season next year. f Q X t Q I 4 I ' .1 g, ' S rs R 1 -Q -.. N - U'-...LT Compliments of MCCANN FACULTY ASSOCIATION VARSITY TE KNEELING, I.. Champagne, R. ' APQVI GIRLS S FTBALL 1984 THE LADY HORNETS - CHAMPS The 1984 McCann softball team had another remarkable season this year. With excellent coaching, great pitching, powerful hitting, and all-around good fielding, the Lady Hornets were once again a team to beat. The girls were seeded 415 in the Western Mass. Division II tournament and in the quarterfinals the Lady Hornets defeated 41, undefeated Palmer. In the semi- finals, unfortunately, McCann bowed to arch-rival Drury. The Lady Hornets will be losing some of its sting with the graduation this year of several outstanding players - Becky Lewitt, Joy Mongeau, Lisa Champagne, Lisa Remillard, and Marie Harpin.
