One of the highlights of the season was the McCann-Drury game before a packed gym. With only two minues to go, McCann led Drury by two points, but after Alan Giorgi fouled out, Drury came back to beat us by 10 points. This score , however, is not indicative of the really great game that we played, leading Drury for the whole game until the 5 last couple of minutes. Another highlight of the year was our victory in the Franklin County Christmas 0 040 Tournament, with both Alan Giorgi and john Bishop i named to the All-Star team, and Alan Giorgi being named as the Most Valuable Player in the tournament. A highlight of the season was the no-hitter pitched by the talented Alan Boucher. Don Therrien came in for his share of glory, as well, by hitting back-to-back three-run home runs in one of the games. All in all it was a very successful season and we look forward to as great a one next year. HOME VISITORS 2 Hoosac Valley 5 6 Belchertown 0 6 Mt. Greylock 2 11 Mt. Everett 3 2 Mt. There was a new advisor, Miss Nolan, and tryouts weren't until the week before our first game . Three NASC cheerleaders rated us on ability, appearance , and voice . Ten girls were chosen to cheer football season. We had a variety of experiences, such as getting lost in Springfield and leaving without the advisor, but the really exciting season was yet to come . The tryouts for basketball cheerleaders were also late - the day before our first game. This, again, was due to a new advisor, Miss Lipsky. There were not many candidates to choose from, but at ten of three on the day of tryouts we had some new recruits. We were judged by teachers and both a Varsity and junior Var- sity squad were picked . Our first away game was in Whitingham. Miss Lipsky had quite a time handling a station wagon full of gig- gling girls on the narrow, slippery, back roads of Ver- mont. On the way home we rode for a good fifteen miles before we realized we were headed in the wrong direction. After that we took the bus. For the rest of the season it was one thing after another, we did ev- erything from missing the bus to sight-seeing , to sing- ing a chorus or two from the hit parade. We were hav- ing as much fun riding to and from the games as cheering for them, although Miss Lipsky didn't appre- ciate our gayiety. And, needless to say, Mr. Naughton wasn't too keen on the way we could distract his player when they should be ' 'thinking basketball. ' ' We had a good season. lt was a lot of fun and a lot of memories. And the 79 cheerleaders will miss their captain and only senior next year. Good luck Diane and have fun. -g , GIRLS BASKETBALL First Row: L. Erler, N. Randall, C. Richardson, P. Martin. Second Row: Coach No- lan, C. Pacquin, M. Zieba, M. Davis, C. Gaspardi, D. Brule. The 1978 girls' basketball team had a good year play- ing Junior Varsity level, finishing with a 5-6 record. Girls' basketball Coached by Barbara Nolan was a re- warding second year activity at McCann. 'I'he girls worked hard and it showed, having the best season of this two year activity. Even though the girls are proud of their past season, they are looking forward to next year's season. 'I'hey have displayed spirit and dedica- tion. 'I'hey have mentally and physically improved and will continue to improve next year. These girls have come a long way from their first year, not winning any games, to a good basketball season of which they can be proud. These girls represent what a team can achieve by putting their minds to it. VISITORS HOME Mt. Everet 20 - 21 Mt. TOWER ELECTRIC CO fi I Y ALBERT'S HARDWARE STORE SOMETHING SPECIAL 94-96 Summer St. Adams 85 Main St North Ad ALWAYS AND FOREVER The theme of this year's junior-Senior Prom, which was once again held at the Eagle's Hall, was ' 'Al- ways and Forever. Everyone who attended had a super time. The jtmior Class did a fantastic job of decorating the hall, the focal point of the decora- tions being the Carrousel under which many of the couples had their pictures taken. A big surprise for the Seniors was to see their baby pictures on posters as they walked in. The Seniors were given brandy glasses as party favors with the theme of the prom and the date on the side of the glasses. Of course, as soon as the seniors received them, they had to fill them up! Music for the prom was by ' 'Parra- fin and the floor was constantly crowded. The highlight of the Prom was the choosing of the Queen and her court. Judi Maselli, a senior in DE was chosen queen and four other seniors, Dianne Saltamartini, Jane Yorke, Sue Daniels, and Tammy Therrien, were chosen as her court. The evening, unfortunately, ended too soon. Ev- eryone then went home , changed their clothes, and headed for parties - either at Mt. Greylock or at North pond. We watched the sun come up and then headed for Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast - then headed for home and some ' 'shut-eye . The ju- nior-Senior Prom of 1978 will be remembered al- ways and forever. Recall the good times, overlook the bad, Just wish them well, and then sit. Easier said than done, I thought, But I'l1 do my part too. So bear with me while I declare What I do wish for you. I wish you the good fortune To know when you have found happiness, And to have the good sense to hang onto it. I wish you the good fortune To be able to balance your dreams with your limitations So you will come to know contentment. And lastly, I wish you the good fortune To develop that inner strength that'11 see you through The trials that lie ahead. MCCANN FACULTY ASSOC.
