Darling PLANT MAINTENANCE The Plant Maintenance Program prepares students for such operations as carpentry, printing, metal work- ing, welding, power mechanics, and preventive main tenance. The course teaches students the application of many different hand tools and also the operation of power tools and machines. The Plant Maintenance Departrnent was busy this year installing ceilings in various rooms, as well as in the Cafeteria. Williams METAL FABRICATION The Metal Fabrication Program offers training in layout, form and assembly of sheet metal parts, struc- t1u'al fabrications and assemblies. Students are taught how to set up and operate metal fabrication machin- ery, such as brakes, shears, presses, punches, and forming machines. The course provides skill in all phases of electric, oxyacetylene, mig welding and heliarc welding, using modern industrial equipment under industrial conditions. When the student graduates from the Metal Fabri- cation Program, he will be able to enter occupations such as Sheet Metal, Fabrication Layout, various types of welding such as Brazing, Gas Welding, Stick Elect- rode Welding, Micro-wire and Tig-Welding. Brule TOOL 84 MACHINE DESIGN .Mai W., . . 55.-,r , The drafting course, which begins at the 10th grade level, oiers a basic program in Tool and Ma- chine Design. The students receive training in the use of drafting tools and machines, lettering, tracings, detailed drawings, layout and assemblies of machine parts, tools such as jigs, fixtures, molds and also some piping and electrical drafting. Upon graduation the student attains the rank of junior Draftsman. Some occupations the student can enter are Draftsman, Layout Draftsman, Designer or Estimator.
