Lemoine AUTOMOTIVE The curriculum offered in the Automotive Mech- anics Program provides students with a working knowl- edge of all phases of auto repair and maintenance. Training includes the servicing of engines, txansmis- sions, clutches, front end, brakes, steering and fuel N S' systems, drive and differential assemblies, electrical ' X and ignition systems using the latest electronic diag- nostic devices. Rolland, L. janovsky BUSINESS DATA PROCESSING One of the busiest departments in the school, Busi- ness Data Processing begins at the 9th grade level. Besides getting training in the use of tvpewriters, electronic calculators, accounting machines, and duplicating equipment, students are also taught ac- counting, bookkeeping, programming systems and the operation of mechanical and electronic machines, such as card sorters, key punchers, and computers. All of the equipment is modem and similar to the type found in businesses. Many of the students leave school to work in area businesses under the Co-operative Work Program. Guzzi Distributive Education is a program designed to prepare young men and women for careers in market- ing and distribution. The course starts at the Sopho- more level. Students can learn the general marketing techniques by working in the school store. The store carries such items as T-shirts, jackets, pens, books, and many other things one might find in a small store Qualified students receive individual instruction in specific areas such as advertising, credit, display, personnel, salesmanship, and job interviews. Seniors spend three to four school weeks at Christmas working full-time in area stores. ELECTRICITY In the Electricity Course t.he fundamentals of mod- ern electrical theory and practice are taught. Training is available in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, all phases of motors and generators, including electronic control devices, and various testing and measuring instruments currently used in industry. Williams METAL FABRICATION The Metal Fabrication Program offers training in layout, form and assembly of sheet metal parts, struc- t1u'al fabrications and assemblies. Students are taught how to set up and operate metal fabrication machin- ery, such as brakes, shears, presses, punches, and forming machines. The course provides skill in all phases of electric, oxyacetylene, mig welding and heliarc welding, using modern industrial equipment under industrial conditions. When the student graduates from the Metal Fabri- cation Program, he will be able to enter occupations such as Sheet Metal, Fabrication Layout, various types of welding such as Brazing, Gas Welding, Stick Elect- rode Welding, Micro-wire and Tig-Welding. Darling PLANT MAINTENANCE The Plant Maintenance Program prepares students for such operations as carpentry, printing, metal work- ing, welding, power mechanics, and preventive main tenance. The course teaches students the application of many different hand tools and also the operation of power tools and machines. The Plant Maintenance Departrnent was busy this year installing ceilings in various rooms, as well as in the Cafeteria. The students receive training in the use of drafting tools and machines, lettering, tracings, detailed drawings, layout and assemblies of machine parts, tools such as jigs, fixtures, molds and also some piping and electrical drafting. Upon graduation the student attains the rank of junior Draftsman. Some occupations the student can enter are Draftsman, Layout Draftsman, Designer or Estimator. Booth PREP PROGRAM The Program to Raise Employment Potential is an ungraded two-year program which gives students an opportunity to explore various occupations and to at- tain basic job skills. Students spend the first two per- iods each day in academic classes and the remainder of the day in a vocational shop.
