C010- MACHI E ,,, .... TECH oLoeY Machine Technology is the precision shop in the school. Under the direction of Mr. Pyra and Mr. Ramocki, students learn to operate with control and precision the highly sophis- ticated machines used in the shop, as well as to put into use the theories of machine tech- nology taught by Mr. Gray in the classroom. The course not only teaches the fundamentals ol' hasic machines, such as lathes, milling machines and grinders, hut also gives in- struction in tool making, diemaking, in- specting parts, and assembling ol' machine tools. The Machine Technology Department is in the process this year of moving into larger quarters in order to better utilize the sophis- ticated and expensive equipment that is nec- essary to train skilled and knowledgeable machinists. 18

Charron R Armstrong E St Pierre M Dix PLA T MAI TENANCE The purpose ofthe Plant Maintenance Course is to prepare young men to work in the main- tenance department of commercial and indus- trial establishments. The shop work is under the direction and instruction of Mr. Babula and Mr. Upton, while the related classroom theory is taught by Mr. Choquctte. The curriculum includes training in wood- working, painting, electricity, machine shop, plumbing, heating, and metal working. During the four years at McCann students are guided in three forms of Plant Maintenance: general maintenance, specific trade basics, such as painting, plumbing and heating re- pair serviceg and thinking maintenance , diagnosing mechanical and technical prob- lems and prescribing corrective measures. l-Txpcinsion into the old and much larger Auto- motive shop and the great number of jobs done around the school testify to the popular- ity and need for this course. 22
