7he 14fMcWzMf TRAVIS BONHRE Our bonfire just missed being premiered several times before the opening nighter. We built the bonfire for the first time on our own school grounds. Several times before the set date the stack was fired and had to be rebuilt again. Each time, however, the willing students threw themselves to the task and rebuilt to the original size. The pep rally lighted by the bonfire, was one of the best in McCallum's history and, as the fire burned down, enthusiastic McCallumites retreated to the cafe- torium for a dance in anticipation of the coming victory. l Q4 if if W

--fem ma fr ,aww THE BLUE BRIGADE BANQUET At mid-term, when the Blue Brigade ceases to meet l regularly, this active cheering group has a banquet l to celebrate the successful end of a good-job-well- l done for another year. l Above: At the entertainment after the meal Mary Laurel Gray impersonated Mrs. Steve Brougher, sponsor, Linda Landrum, Lois Shelton, Verlene Strickland, and Suzanne Boling, the officers. Right: Mary Beth Taylor, secretary of the Blue Brigade, made a short talk following the dinner, which was held at Casis Restaurant. Above: Verlene Strickland won the service award, one of the great- est honors a girl can receive, for service above ond beyond the call of duty during the year. Left: Small-talk preceeded the dinner. Several guests were pres- ent, including Robert Falls, who helped the Brigade in their half- time shows, the cheerleaders, and a number of the faculty.
