Mr. Foster--Never do today, what you can put off until tomarrow. Mrs. Cheney--Teaching is a lot more fun, especially when your husband can come along. N Mr. Poulter--It has to be awful funny before I'll laugh. W ff lg i, 445 il'1 'u, ., History continued-- He have finally reached the end of our high school years. We took our seats on the extreme east side of the assembly with pride. Our Class officers were: Pres.-Myrna Kllstofte, V, Pres.-Connie Arnold, Sec.-Treas.- Janet Lee. Our sponsor was Mr. Bill Vest. Beverly Tjelmeland decided to leave us so we now have a total of ten. Our senior play 'Have a Date' was presented on March 26, 1954 with an all star cast of characters. It was under the direction of Mrs. Bruce Cheney. For our Senior Skip day we sent to Chicago. We saw many points of interest and everyone enjoyed it immensely. We sold magazines and refreshments at the Jr. High tournament to earn the money. The Junior-Senior banquet was held April 29, 1954 at the High School Cafeteria. A vote of thanks goes to the Juniors from us all. Of the seventeen who began in first grade, seven have been pulling to- gether all twelve years. They are: Glen Amdahl, Myrna Kilstofte, Janet Lee, Shirley Ose, Carroll Wester, Richard T hompson and Stanley Thompson. This very distinguished Class of '54 has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are outstanding in their many fields of endeavor and as every- one will agree, they will continue to do so throughout their lives. We will not say we wnn't think of our high school days but it will be nice to be out and just have to think about them. Sc we shall say farewell. Our class may be small, five boys and five girls, but it will leave an empty spot in the very heart of the school. We all hope the school will continue even though the loss is very great.

Senior Prophecy It was May 21, 1964, when Mr. and Hrs. Vest, still princi- pal of the McCallsburg High School, decided to take a trip around the world. They were so devoted to the class of V '54, they were going to try to see every one of them. V Y They started by going to Chl cago, where Hyrna Kil- .N V f 4 5 N 4 stofte was the head of the Methodist hospital. Myrna My W b was real glad to see them. Stan gg 2: had no idea they were coming and Vests got there just L in time to see Stan pitch a game, then they has a long ,g talk afterwards. Hr Vest said he knew Stanley would re- NAK ally make something out of life, since he was so studious f in school. I Carroll Wester had Joined the National Guard, and was 7 stationed in Maine, He had decided he would probably be a 20 year man, l1fe's really not worth living anyway, when he could- n't get Shirley Ose. He said if he couldn't be married to gh1p1,y , he would never marry. While they were still in the states, they went down to Georgia to see Janet Lee, she and Laverne had been living there for eight years. Janet had gone to college and she was teaching down there. They liked it so well while Lavern was in service, they just stayed. Vests did- , . uW,4,! n't take their children Roger, Kathy, namona, and Bob with them T39- but now they wished they had because Janet's twin girls would ' have enJoyed it. Glen happened to be in Russia for a big three meeting, so Vests got a chance to see him. Richard Thompson was in Korea now, so when they flew over they thought they would be able to see him. No, there wasn't still a war going on, Richard was only collecting all the scrap Junk left over from the war. He asked Pres- ident Eisenhower if he could have lt, and he said Yes, lf he hauled it away. Vests had an interesting tour through Korea, through all the places the war had destroyed. Then it was time to go back to the United States, They first stopped in California, where Beverly Grunsted was. Shirley Ose and Beverly had go e with Mary Tabor out to California as soon as they graduated. Shirley had flown right back, but Bev liked it so well she stayed with Mary. Vests finally found Bev's apartment, it was in Hotel Beverly Hills. Bev and Mary were models for the 'Big Pay- off', so they were really 11v1ng fancy. Darrell Chentland was in Reno, Nevada, where he owned several gambling Joints. He had made so much money gambling he d1dn't know what to do with it. Vests stayed at Darrell's manslo for about a week. Bill said he wished he had learned how to play cards insted of just taking away the guy's money in high school. Now, finally they were on their way back to Iowa. There was only one member of the class still living there. That was Connie Arnold. She was Gov- ernor Foster's private secretary in Des Moines. Vests hadn't seen her since she graduated even though she lives Just 50 miles away but they had seen her picture in the newspapers many times. when they were just about back to McCallsburg, Bill turned to Dorothy and said, 'You know, Dorothy, those are the nicest bunch of kids I've ever taught, everyone of them really reached their goal in l1fe.'
