Student Uouucil Assume: More Rerpouxibihtier Student Body President Gary Kantola Featuring a very active year, Student Council exercised more governmental duties tha.n ever before. , Get Smart Day, was one of the . Council' s major Luidertakings . Juniors and seniors from McCall and neighboring communities spent the day listening to representatives from fourteen colleges and trade schools located in Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, and also to recruiters from the various armed services. Homecoming half -time activities were planned and carried out by the Student Student Body Secretary Sandra Acheson Council. Also a Vandal Mascot was present at this years basketball games , another Student Body Vice President accomplishment of the Student Council. Vandaleer Receives' All-Sta te Superior McCall Donnelly's semi-monthly newspaper, The Vandaleer, received a superior rating for the second year in a row, The paper is the climax of two weeks of hard work by the staff members, The staff attends the annual journalism conference held at the University of Idaho, where they not only learn the fine points of journalism, but also get antaste of college life, l. Science Club Purchases Armadillox' FIRST ROW: Chris Murray, Carolyn Them, Luann Cox, Martha Klott, Kay Jones, Noelene Eddins Sue Lappens Michelle Storey Annabel Newcomer, Advisors Mr. Walter Them and Mr. Lee Lehrman. SECOND ROW: Ed Heacock Dana Seydel Richard Nesbitt, Mike Graham, Russ Moltke, Mike Webb, Lynn Dowty. fi' ww Sergeant-at-Arms Ed Heacock, Vice President Annabel Newcomer, Secretary Noelene Eddins , Corresponding Secretary Sue Lappens, President Mike Webb, Advisors Mr. Lee Lehrman and Mr. Walter Them. One of the main projects of the Science Club this year was the selling of chemically treated pine cones These pine cones when burned produced an array of colors Another of the Club's projects was the purchase of two armadillos Throughout the year the students gained knowledge from various speakers. One of the speakers Mr Leroy Whitman of the U.S. Forest Service spoke about clear-cut logging Science Club sponsored the Science Fair at McCall in April in which students of McCall Donnelly and surroundmg schools displayed their projects This fair brought a large crowd of science minded observers RIGHT: Mr. Walter Them, Club advisor bobbed for an apple at the annual Science Club sponsored Halloween dance. In addition to the dance, the event featured a spook house, costiune judging, and an ice cream eating contest.
