SECOND ROW: Bill Kangas, Mike Butler, Gary Kantola, Tom Sheffield, Ken Shaw, Dan Kantola, Coach Kirk Dahlke, Bob Hosford, Doug Yensen, Doug Woods, Ed Heacock, Greg Boos, Craig Hesse. NOT PICTURED: Dale Bollar. Vandal wrestlers were one of the best rounded teams in the league this year. The team had several outstanding members, with six grapplers placing in district and four members traveling to the state tournament. The Vandals who went to state were Ken Shaw, Dan Kantola, Doug Woods, and Craig Hesse. However no- body from M-D was able to secure a place in the tournament. Only five of the Vandals, Shaw, Hosford, Yensen, Woods, and Hesse, graduate this year, leaving fourteen powerful members for next year's team. W Coached by Mack Miller, Nordic, and Franz Hamer, Alpine, MD skiers placed high in both qualifying and invitational meets. George Dorris started the season well by winning the Engen Cup and following through by placing high in both nordic and alpine meets. Patty Boydstun attended two World Cup Races placing 10th in the slalom at Heavenly Valley. She finished 2nd in the slalom at Bear Valley, California and 10th in Giant Slalom at the Senior Nationals. Ron Watkins picked up a 2nd at Spokane and Craig Johnson earn- ed a 4th in the Cranston Cup at Boise. Wilamena Seydel and Craig traveled to Reno, Nevada, to represent Idaho in the Western States Team Race.
