This year the Vandals' Junior Varsity Team boasted a 16 -4 record. The outstanding coaching of Mike Thomas combined with an aggressive of- fense and a well balanced defense gave these Vandal tykes superiority over most of their opponents. WRESTLING FIRST ROW: Wes Cornwell, Allen Dehlin, Ed Sheffield, Dan Donica, David Leavitt, Dick Banks, Monte Bollar. SECOND ROW: Bill Kangas, Mike Butler, Gary Kantola, Tom Sheffield, Ken Shaw, Dan Kantola, Coach Kirk Dahlke, Bob Hosford, Doug Yensen, Doug Woods, Ed Heacock, Greg Boos, Craig Hesse. NOT PICTURED: Dale Bollar. Vandal wrestlers were one of the best rounded teams in the league this year. The team had several outstanding members, with six grapplers placing in district and four members traveling to the state tournament. The Vandals who went to state were Ken Shaw, Dan Kantola, Doug Woods, and Craig Hesse. However no- body from M-D was able to secure a place in the tournament. Only five of the Vandals, Shaw, Hosford, Yensen, Woods, and Hesse, graduate this year, leaving fourteen powerful members for next year's team.
