Hello world, Ism a people i . . Ilm an individual . .. I have eyes, ears, fin- gers, and toes . v . all the characteris- tics of humanness - even a heart - I laugh and cry, I can feel as high or as low as anyone , . . Getting up in the morning is a drag . . . Trying to talk to a room full of blank faces isnlt any , picnic . . i I get bored too . . . Listen- I ing to a hundred excuses in one day can drive anyone mad . v . And I have homework, correcting fifty papers of which only one is yours But I wasnt forced to be a teacher, I Chose to be one . . . I accept the frustrations and rejoice in the triumphs . . i But teaching is only a part of my life . . . I can be a nun or a priest, a modern young woman looking toward mar- riage, a wife and a mother, a single : I f: woman, or a swinging young bache- l ' I lor I i . Ilm a fabulous cook but dread Cleaning house . . . Two left feet or a creaking voice never kept me from doing my own thing . . . I also enjoy an occasional movie or play . v . And sometimes, I revert to romping in the , woods and serving cold chicken on i : my checkered tablecloth I have I' some very pretty Clothes hanging in my Closet, even though you havent seen them . .. Maybe you haven't understood a word Ive written Fm trying to say that I,m for real . .. Ilm not a stereotype of a middle aged-spinster-teacher, wearing horn- rimmed glasses, and skirts six inches below her knee . . .
