Students are given text books and assignments and are expected to do the reading and the assignments at home. During the cycle girls are asked to report for individual conferences and dis- cussion on the subject matter studied. Mixed reac- tions are found among faculty and students. As usual some like independent study others dislike the pro- gram for various reasons. The past comes alive in Russian History in learning about persons such as Ivan the Terrible and the Romanovs. Through special plays and skits and special art projects, history does come alive in many ways in the understanding of many histories and cultures of many nations. The person who thinks she does not like History is in for a shock in Government.
