1958-59 McAllen School Board Seated: Mrs. Harold Hendricks, Dave Horger. Standing: Dario Garcia, Woodbury F. Pride, Larry Fritz, Francis Linn. No school could begin to operate without the efficient capable people who make up our school board. These men and women un- selfishly devote their time and efforts to the betterment of the school district. They work closely with the administration to work out and solve the many problems that confront the various schools. This board is the back- bone of our schools. •You are old, said the youth, mone uould hardly suppose That your eye was as steady as ever: Yet you balanced an eel on the end of your nose--- What made you so awfully clever?m Our teachers and administrators aren’t old-really not awfully-but oh how they are clever! We haven’t seen any of them balancing eels on their noses but we are sure they could if they set their minds to it. After having been among them for several years we have finally come to the conclusion that they are practically people, and very nice people at that. J. Lyle Hill, Superintendent Though he has been in McAllen less than a year, J. Lyle Hill has already become an active member of our community. He has a friendly, easy manner that won the hearts of the McAllen High School students immediately. He has worked long and hard in improving our schools. Mr. Hill has previously been the principal of our school and is known well by many McHi ites. 9
